HEAL THE SICK
The ministry of Jesus and the early church was full of divine healings. In fact, at the beginning of His ministry Jesus mentions healing as a key component of His ministry. Also, when Jesus commissioned His disciples, He mentioned healing as a key component of the commissioning.
The bible talks about diseases, sicknesses and some causes. It’s easy to get bogged down in these details, trying to split the hairs. But it’s comforting to know that the promise of healing covers all diseases, sicknesses and causes.
Matthew 10
8 Heal the sick, raise the dead, cure those with leprosy, and cast out demons. Give as freely as you have received!
John 11
4 But when Jesus heard about it he said, “Lazarus’s sickness will not end in death. No, it happened for the glory of God so that the Son of God will receive glory from this.”
John 9
As Jesus was walking along, he saw a man who had been blind from birth. 2 “Rabbi,” his disciples asked him, “why was this man born blind? Was it because of his own sins or his parents’ sins?”
3 “It was not because of his sins or his parents’ sins,” Jesus answered. “This happened so the power of God could be seen in him.
John 5
5 One of the men lying there had been sick for thirty-eight years. 6 When Jesus saw him and knew he had been ill for a long time, he asked him, “Would you like to get well?” ……..
14 But afterward Jesus found him in the Temple and told him, “Now you are well; so stop sinning, or something even worse may happen to you.”
Deuteronomy 5
9 You must not bow down to them or worship them, for I, the Lord your God, am a jealous God who will not tolerate your affection for any other gods. I lay the sins of the parents upon their children; the entire family is affected—even children in the third and fourth generations of those who reject me. 10 But I lavish unfailing love for a thousand generations on those[b] who love me and obey my commands.
