THE KINGDOM LENS IN THE MARKETPLACE
How to Decode Opportunities, People, and Seasons Through Heaven’s Eyes
The marketplace is not just a place of business or commerce—
it is a field of assignment, mission, influence, and divine deployment.
Every believer is called to operate with a different lens:
- Not the corporate lens
- Not the cultural lens
- Not the fear lens
- Not the survival lens
- Not the ambition lens
—but the Kingdom lens.
Jesus said:
> “But seek first the kingdom of God…”
— (Matthew 6:33)
This is not simply a verse for church life.
It is a blueprint for how to interpret everything—
opportunities, relationships, partnerships, open doors, closed doors, timing, conflict, promotion, and pressure.
Your success in the marketplace is tied to one skill:
Your ability to see through the eyes of God.
🌳 I. WHAT IS THE KINGDOM LENS?
The Kingdom Lens = Seeing from God’s perspective, not the world’s.
Jesus operated with this lens and was never confused, intimidated, or reactive.
> “I only do what I see My Father doing.”
— John 5:19
This means:
- He interpreted life from revelation, not reaction.
- He discerned spiritual meaning behind natural events.
- He saw purpose where others saw problems.
- He saw assignment where others saw inconvenience.
- He saw destiny where others saw disorder.
The marketplace demands the same ability.
🌳 II. WHY THE MARKETPLACE REQUIRES A KINGDOM LENS
1. Because not every door is a God door
> “There is a way that seems right to a man, but its end is the way of death.”
— Proverbs 14:12
- Some open doors are distractions.
- Some opportunities are traps.
- Some platforms are premature.
- Some partnerships carry hidden danger.
2. Because the marketplace is spiritual
> “For we wrestle not against flesh and blood…”
— Ephesians 6:12
Behind negotiations, contracts, and conflict are unseen forces and unseen favour.
3. Because timing is everything
> “To everything there is a season…”
— Ecclesiastes 3:1
God’s timing is not your timing.
Kingdom eyes allow you to recognise divine moments.
🌳 III. SEEING OPPORTUNITIES THROUGH THE KINGDOM LENS
1. Kingdom Eyes Look for Purpose, Not Just Profit
> “For we are His workmanship, created in Christ Jesus for good works, which God prepared beforehand that we should walk in them”
— Ephesians 2:10
Before you ask
“How much does it pay?”
ask
“Does this align with my assignment?”
2. Kingdom Eyes Look for God’s Fingerprint
Paul said:
> “A great and effective door has opened to me, and there are many adversaries.”
— 1 Corinthians 16:9
The presence of resistance does not always mean “stop.”
Sometimes it means God is in it.
3. Kingdom Eyes Detect Hidden Potential
- Jesus saw a leader in Peter when others saw a fisherman (Matthew 4:19).
- He saw a global evangelist in a Samaritan woman (John 4).
- He saw an apostle in a persecutor (Acts 9).
Kingdom vision sees what a thing can become, not what it is.
Ask:
“What is God trying to birth through this opportunity?”
🌳 IV. SEEING PEOPLE THROUGH THE KINGDOM LENS
1. Discern Their Role in Your Life
People in your marketplace journey fall into one of four groups:
▶️ A. Lifters — sent to strengthen you
Jonathan strengthened David’s hand in God. (1 Sam. 23:16)
▶️ B. Linkers — divine connectors
The cupbearer introduced Joseph to Pharaoh. (Genesis 41)
▶️ C. Learners — those God sent for you to build
“Make disciples…” (Matthew 28:19)
Some people are your assignment.
▶️ D. Limiters — those who drain or derail
> “Bad company corrupts good character.”
— 1 Corinthians 15:33
Kingdom vision helps you identify each group.
2. Discern Motives, Not Just Actions
> “Man looks at the outward appearance, but the LORD looks at the heart.”
— 1 Samuel 16:7
- Some people applaud you publicly but resist you privately.
- Some people offer help but carry hidden agendas.
- Some look harmless but are dangerous.
- Some look insignificant but are destiny helpers.
Prayer🔥
“Lord, give me seeing eyes and hearing ears.”
3. Discern the Difference Between Seasonal People and Lifetime People
> “They went out from us, but they were not of us…”
— 1 John 2:19
Not everyone is meant to go into your next season.
Some were only sent to get you from point A to point B.
Holding seasonal people in lifetime roles breeds frustration.
🌳 V. SEEING SEASONS THROUGH THE KINGDOM LENS
1. Recognise the Season You Are In
> “The sons of Issachar… understood the times and knew what Israel ought to do.”
— 1 Chronicles 12:32)
This is the Issachar anointing:
- Understanding timing
- Understanding strategy
- Understanding God’s rhythm
Ask:
“Lord, what season am I in?”
There are seasons of:
- Building
- Hiddenness
- Exposure
- Pruning
- Rest
- Warfare
- Multiplication
- Transition
- Expansion
Clarity on seasons prevents unnecessary battles.
2. Don’t Misinterpret Divine Delay
> “For the vision is yet for an appointed time; but at the end it will speak, and it will not lie. Though it tarries, wait for it; because it will surely come, it will not tarry.”
— Habakkuk 2:3
- Delay is not denial.
- Delay is development.
- God uses delay to mature your character to match your calling.
3. See Closed Doors as Protection
> “For the LORD had kept them from going…”
— Acts 16:6–7
Some doors remain shut because God is saving you from:
- Wrong partnerships
- Wrong territory
- Wrong timing
- Wrong motives
- Wrong assignments
Closed doors are divine redirections.
🌳 VI. HOW TO DEVELOP THE KINGDOM LENS
1. Immerse Yourself in the Word
The Word shapes your worldview.
> “Your word is a lamp to my feet and a light to my path.”
— Psalm 119:105
2. Listen to the Holy Spirit’s Whisper
> “He will guide you into all truth.”
— John 16:13
The Spirit gives insight into people, moments, and decisions.
3. Stay in an Atmosphere of Prayer
> “Pray without ceasing.”
— 1 Thessalonians 5:17
Prayer sharpens discernment.
You cannot see clearly without prayer.
4. Move in Peace
> “Let the peace of God rule in your hearts.”
Colossians 3:15
Peace is the divine umpire that says “Yes,” “No,” or “Wait.”
5. Obey Quickly
Revelation without obedience leads to confusion.
Obeying small instructions opens bigger ones.
🌳 VII. ACTIVATION
Take one current business decision, opportunity, relationship, or season.
Ask yourself:
▶️ A. What does the natural lens say?
Fear? insecurity? logic? assumptions?
▶️ B. What does the Kingdom lens reveal?
Purpose? assignment? alignment? character formation? timing?
Then declare:
“I choose Heaven’s perspective.”
