THE MAN & HIS HEART.
The Condition of the Heart determines the Direction of Life.
KEY SCRIPTURE
📖 Psalms 24:4
" Who may ascend into the hill of the LORD?
Or who may stand in His holy place?
He who has clean hands and a pure heart,
Who has not lifted up his soul to an idol,
Nor sworn deceitfully."
📖 Proverbs 4:23
“Guard your heart above all else,
for it determines the course of your life.”
Psalms 139:23-24
"Search me, O God, and know my heart;
Try me, and know my anxieties;
And see if there is any wicked way in me,
And lead me in the way everlasting."
SEVEN REASON WHY THE HEART OF MAN IS IMPORTANT.
• The heart is not just an emotional center in Scripture; it represents the core of a person’s will, motives, desires, thoughts, and spiritual direction.
• God relates to man through the heart, not merely outward actions.
📖 “The LORD does not see as man sees; for man looks at the outward appearance, but the LORD looks at the heart.”—
1 Samuel 16:7
1. The Heart Is the Seat of Relationship with God
True relationship with the Lord is heart-based, not ritual-based.
📖 “You will seek Me and find Me, when you search for Me with all your heart.” — Jeremiah 29:13
• God is not found through routine alone.
• He responds to genuine pursuit from the heart.
• A divided or distracted heart weakens intimacy with God.
Why this matters:
God does not want mere followers; He desires sons and daughters whose hearts are turned toward Him.
2. The Heart Determines Obedience to the Lord.
Obedience does not come from pressure — it flows from the heart.
📖 “If you love Me, keep My commandments.” — John 14:15
📖 “This people draw near with their mouth and honor Me with their lips, but have removed their heart far from Me.” — Isaiah 29:13
• External obedience without heart alignment is empty religion.
• When the heart loves God, obedience becomes natural, not forced.
Why this matters:
The Father is not impressed by actions alone; He looks for obedience that flows from love.
3. The Heart Is the Gateway of Influence in a Man’s Life
Whatever controls the heart controls the person.
📖 “For as he thinks in his heart, so is he.” — Proverbs 23:7
📖 “For where your treasure is, there your heart will be also.” — Matthew 6:21
The heart determines:
• Decisions
• Priorities
• Direction
• Loyalty
Why this matters:
If God does not fully have your heart, something else will. The Father desires undivided loyalty.
4. The Heart Is the Place God Writes His Covenant
God does not only deal with behavior; He transforms from the inside out.
📖 “I will give you a new heart and put a new spirit within you.” — Ezekiel 36:26
📖 “I will put My law in their minds, and write it on their hearts.” — Jeremiah 31:33
• Salvation is a heart transformation, not just moral improvement.
• God relates to man through a renewed heart, not a repaired old one.
Why this matters:
You cannot truly relate to the Father with an unchanged heart. Relationship begins with inner transformation.
5. The Heart Is Where the Lord’s Voice Is Heard
Spiritual sensitivity is connected to the state of the heart.
📖 “My sheep hear My voice…” — John 10:27
📖 “Blessed are the pure in heart, for they shall see God.” — Matthew 5:8
• A polluted heart dulls spiritual hearing.
• A pure heart increases spiritual clarity.
• God speaks most clearly to those who guard their hearts.
Why this matters:
A hardened heart cannot discern the Father’s guidance. Intimacy requires sensitivity.
6. The Heart Is the Measure of True Worship
God is not moved by performance; He is moved by affection and surrender.
📖 “God is Spirit, and those who worship Him must worship in spirit and in truth.” — John 4:24
📖 “Love the LORD your God with all your heart…” — Mark 12:30
• True worship comes from the heart before it comes from the lips.
• God rejects worship that is only outward.
Why this matters:
The Father does not want songs without surrender. He wants the heart behind the song.
7. The Condition of the Heart Affects Fellowship with the Lord.
Sin primarily affects the heart before it affects behavior.
📖 “Create in me a clean heart, O God…” — Psalm 51:10
📖 “If I regard iniquity in my heart, the Lord will not hear.” — Psalm 66:18
• A defiled heart disrupts fellowship.
• A clean heart restores access and confidence before God.
Why this matters:
The Father desires unbroken fellowship, which requires continual heart cleansing.
What is a pure heart.
A sold-out heart is not a perfect heart — it is a submitted, obedient, purified, and God-centered heart. God is not after outward appearance, religious performance, or success. He is after the heart.
“A sold-out heart holds nothing back from God — no idols, no secrets, no divided loyalties.”
PRAYER POINTS.
1. The Command to Love God Fully
📖 Mark 12:30–31
“And you shall love the LORD your God with all your heart, with all your soul, with all your mind, and with all your strength.’ This is the first commandment. And the second, like it, is this: ‘You shall love your neighbor as yourself.’ There is no other commandment greater than these.”
A sold-out heart is a heart fully surrendered to God and fully committed to loving others.
Prayer Points
• Lord, baptise my heart with an all-consuming love for You.
• Remove every competing affection that reduces my devotion to You.
• Teach me to love You with all my heart, soul, mind, and strength.
• Help me to love others with the same grace You have shown me.
2. The Danger of a Divided Heart – The Rich Young Ruler
📖 Luke 18:18–23
Jesus Counsels the Rich Young Ruler
(Matt. 19:16–22; Mark 10:17–22)
Now a certain ruler asked Him, saying, “Good Teacher, what shall I do to inherit eternal life?”
So Jesus said to him, “Why do you call Me good? No one is good but One, that is, God. You know the commandments: ‘Do not commit adultery,’ ‘Do not murder,’ ‘Do not steal,’ ‘Do not bear false witness,’ ‘Honor your father and your mother.’ ”
And he said, “All these things I have kept from my youth.”
So when Jesus heard these things, He said to him, “You still lack one thing. Sell all that you have and distribute to the poor, and you will have treasure in heaven; and come, follow Me.”
But when he heard this, he became very sorrowful, for he was very rich.
• The heart reveals what truly owns us.
• Obedience becomes difficult when the heart is attached to other treasures.
Prayer Points
• Lord, expose every hidden idol in my heart.
• I renounce every attachment that competes with Your lordship in my life.
• Give me the grace to obey You without reservation or delay.
• I choose eternal treasure over temporary riches, in Jesus’ name.
3. The Nature of the Human Heart
📖 Jeremiah 17:9–10
“The human heart is the most deceitful of all things and desperately wicked.
Who really knows how bad it is?
But I, the LORD, search all hearts
and examine secret motives.
I give all people their due rewards,
according to what their actions deserve.”
Only God can truly search, cleanse, and judge the heart accurately.
Prayer Points
• Father, search my heart and reveal every wrong motive.
• Cleanse me from self-deception and hidden corruption.
• Align my desires with Your will and Your truth.
• Let my heart pass Your divine examination.
4. The Call to Seek God with the Whole Heart
📖 Jeremiah 29:12–13
“You will call to Me and come and pray to Me, and I will listen to you. You will seek Me and find Me when you search for Me with all your heart.”
Prayer Points
• Lord, ignite in me a hunger to seek You with my whole heart.
• Remove spiritual laziness and distraction from my life.
• Draw me into deeper intimacy and prayer.
• I declare that I will find You as I seek You wholeheartedly.
5. God Looks at the Heart, Not Appearance
📖 1 Samuel 16:7
“But the LORD said to Samuel, ‘Do not look at his appearance or his stature, because I have rejected him. Man does not see what the LORD sees, for man sees what is visible, but the LORD sees the heart.’ ”
Prayer Points
• Deliver me from living for human approval.
• Create in me a heart that pleases You, not men.
• Let my private life align with my public confession.
• Shape my character according to Your heart.
6. A Prayer for a Clean and Acceptable Heart
📖 Psalm 19:14
“May the words of my mouth
and the meditation of my heart
be acceptable to You,
LORD, my rock and my Redeemer.”
📖 Psalm 51:10–12
“Create in me a clean heart, O God.
Renew a loyal spirit within me.
Do not banish me from your presence,
and don’t take your Holy Spirit from me.
Restore to me the joy of your salvation,
and make me willing to obey you.”
Prayer Points
• Create in me a clean heart, O God.
• Restore the joy of my salvation and renew my spirit.
• Let my thoughts, words, and motives be acceptable before You.
• Keep me sensitive to Your Holy Spirit.
7. Trusting God with the Whole Heart
📖 Proverbs 3:5–6
“Trust in the LORD with all your heart;
do not depend on your own understanding.
Seek his will in all you do,
and he will show you which path to take.”
Prayer Points
• Lord, I choose to trust You with all my heart.
• I renounce dependence on my own understanding.
• Order my steps according to Your will.
• Lead me clearly in every decision I make.
