THE FOUR THINGS TO CONTEND FOR TO RISE
Content:
“In this Kingdom, we rise by the light (Revelation). We contend for the light (Elevation).”
“In this Kingdom, we fight to rise.”
“And from the days of John the Baptist until now the kingdom of heaven suffers violence, and the violent take it by force.”— Matthew 11:12 (NKJV)
“Every season is governed by revelation and truth.” — Pastor Pancras Ngira
• Spiritual elevation does not happen by accident. In the Kingdom of God, rising is intentional and often resisted.
• Every advancement attracts opposition, and every new level demands spiritual engagement. Promotion is not merely about desire or gifting—it is about contention. Those who rise understand resistance and partner with Heaven to overcome it.
Scriptural Foundation:
• Ephesians 6:12 (KJV) — “For we wrestle not against flesh and blood, but against principalities, against powers, against the rulers of the darkness of this world, against spiritual wickedness in high places.”
• Daniel 10:12–13 (KJV) — “Then said he unto me, Fear not, Daniel: for from the first day that thou didst set thine heart to understand, and to chasten thyself before thy God, thy words were heard, and I am come for thy words. But the prince of the kingdom of Persia withstood me one and twenty days: but, lo, Michael, one of the chief princes, came to help me; and I remained there with the kings of Persia.”
• James 4:7 (KJV) — “Submit yourselves therefore to God. Resist the devil, and he will flee from you.”
1. GATES TO OPEN — Territorial Resistance
“Every new territory is guarded. Elevation always attracts resistance.”
Definition:
Gates represent territorial strongholds—ancient spiritual powers controlling regions, systems, families, industries, or seasons. Gatekeepers resist entry into new realms.
Scriptures & Examples:
• Psalm 24:7 (KJV) — “Lift up your heads, O ye gates; and be ye lift up, ye everlasting doors; and the King of glory shall come in.”
• Isaiah 45:1–3 (KJV) — “Thus saith the LORD to his anointed, to Cyrus, whose right hand I have holden, to subdue nations before him; and I will loose the loins of kings, to open before him the two leaved gates; and the gates shall not be shut; I will go before thee, and make the crooked places straight: I will break in pieces the gates of brass, and cut in sunder the bars of iron.”
• 2 Chronicles 20:15 (KJV) — “And he said, Hearken ye, all Judah, and ye inhabitants of Jerusalem, and thou king Jehoshaphat, Thus saith the LORD unto you, Be not afraid nor dismayed by reason of this great multitude; for the battle is not yours, but God’s.”
• Joshua 6:20 (KJV) — “So the people shouted when the priests blew with the trumpets: and it came to pass, when the people heard the sound of the trumpet, and the people shouted with a great shout, that the wall fell down flat, so that the people went up into the city, every man straight before him, and they took the city.”
• Acts 12:8-10 " Then the angel said to him, “Gird yourself and tie on your sandals”; and so he did. And he said to him, “Put on your garment and follow me.” So he went out and followed him, and did not know that what was done by the angel was real, but thought he was seeing a vision. When they were past the first and the second guard posts, they came to the iron gate that leads to the city, which opened to them of its own accord; and they went out and went down one street, and immediately the angel departed from him.”
Prayer Focus:
“Lord, go before me. Break ancient gates, dismantle territorial resistance, and grant me access to the realms You have ordained for me.”
2. DOORS TO OPEN — Access and Authorization
“Gates control territory, but doors control access.”
Definition:
Doors represent people, systems, and authorities that grant access to destiny spaces.
Scriptures & Examples:
• Revelation 3:8 (KJV) — “I know thy works: behold, I have set before thee an open door, and no man can shut it: for thou hast a little strength, and hast kept my word, and hast not denied my name.”
• Genesis 40:9–23; 41:14–41 (KJV) — Joseph interpreted the dreams of Pharaoh’s cupbearer and baker; through the cupbearer, he gained access to Pharaoh, leading to his rise.
• Acts 12:5-7 Peter was therefore kept in prison, but constant prayer was offered to God for him by the church. And when Herod was about to bring him out, that night Peter was sleeping, bound with two chains between two soldiers; and the guards before the door were keeping the prison. Now behold, an angel of the Lord stood by him, and a light shone in the prison; and he struck Peter on the side and raised him up, saying, “Arise quickly!” And his chains fell off his hands."
• Proverbs 8:34 (KJV) — “Blessed is the man that heareth me, watching daily at my gates, waiting at the posts of my doors.”
• 1 Corinthians 16:9 (KJV) — “For a great door and effectual is opened unto me, and there are many adversaries.” — Paul recognized God opening a strategic door for ministry despite opposition.
Prayer Focus:
“Father, connect me to divine doorkeepers. Let every door ordained for my rising open without delay.”
3. WINDOWS OF OPPORTUNITY — Divine Timing and Favor
“You can have access and still miss opportunity if the window remains shut.”
Definition:
Windows represent opportunities, visibility, and divine timing.
Scriptures & Examples:
• Malachi 3:10 (KJV) — “Bring ye all the tithes into the storehouse, that there may be meat in mine house, and prove me now herewith, saith the LORD of hosts, if I will not open you the windows of heaven, and pour you out a blessing, that there shall not be room enough to receive it.”
• Esther 4:14 (KJV) — “For if thou altogether holdest thy peace at this time, then shall there enlargement and deliverance arise to the Jews from another place; but thou and thy father’s house shall be destroyed: and who knoweth whether thou art come to the kingdom for such a time as this?”
• Ecclesiastes 3:1 (KJV) — “To every thing there is a season, and a time to every purpose under the heaven.”
• Nehemiah 2:1–8 (KJV) — Nehemiah obtained favor from King Artaxerxes to rebuild Jerusalem because he prayed and aligned with divine timing.
Prayer Focus:
“Lord, open the windows of opportunity over my life. Let visibility, favor, and divine timing converge for my advancement.”
4. ANOINTING FOR THE NEXT LEVEL — Capacity to Sustain Elevation
“God does not merely open levels—He anoints you to survive, lead, and reign there.”
Definition:
Every new level requires a new measure of anointing.
Scriptures & Examples:
• 1 Samuel 16:13 (KJV) — “Then Samuel took the horn of oil, and anointed him in the midst of his brethren: and the Spirit of the LORD came upon David from that day forward. So Samuel rose up, and went to Ramah.”
• 2 Samuel 5:3 (KJV) — “So all the elders of Israel came to the king to Hebron; and king David made a covenant with them in Hebron before the LORD: and they anointed David king over Israel.”
• Psalm 3:3 (KJV) — “But thou, O LORD, art a shield for me; my glory, and the lifter up of mine head.”
• Zechariah 4:6 (KJV) — “Then he answered and spake unto me, saying, This is the word of the LORD unto Zerubbabel, saying, Not by might, nor by power, but by my spirit, saith the LORD of hosts.”
• Exodus 31:3 (KJV) — “And I have filled him with the spirit of God, in wisdom, and in understanding, and in knowledge, and in all manner of workmanship.”
• Acts 1:8 (KJV) — “But ye shall receive power, after that the Holy Ghost is come upon you: and ye shall be witnesses unto me both in Jerusalem, and in all Judaea, and in Samaria, and unto the uttermost part of the earth.”
• Luke 1:34-36" Then Mary said to the angel, “How can this be, since I do not know a man?”And the angel answered and said to her, “The Holy Spirit will come upon you, and the power of the Highest will overshadow you; therefore, also, that Holy One who is to be born will be called the Son of God. Now indeed, Elizabeth your relative has also conceived a son in her old age; and this is now the sixth month for her who was called barren."
Prayer Focus:
“Lord anoint my head afresh for the level You are taking me into. Be the lifter of my head, surround me with Your glory, and clothe me with the oil required to reign where You are leading me.”
Declaration:
“The LORD is my shield and my lifter. I rise by His Spirit, sustained by His anointing, and established in His purpose.”
