WHO IS OUR GOD?

SUMMARY: Who is our God?
Core Focus: Exodus 34:6–7 | Colossians 2:9
1. The Nature of God
God is not defined by our feelings, but by His eternal character:
* Light & Holy: Pure and perfect (1 John 1:5; Isaiah 6:3).
* Unchanging & Faithful: A solid "Rock" (Malachi 3:6; Deuteronomy 32:4).
* Infinite: All-Knowing, All-Powerful, and Ever-Present (Psalm 147:5; Matthew 19:26; Psalm 139:7-8).
* Compassionate: A patient and loving Father (Psalm 103:13; 2 Peter 3:9).
1. God’s Self-Description (Exodus 34:6–7)
When God described Himself to Moses, He highlighted these core traits:
* Mercy: Choosing compassion over punishment.
* Grace: Giving us unearned gifts and favour.
* Patience: Being "slow to anger" to give us room to change.
* Steadfast Love: An unbreakable, overflowing covenant loyalty.
* Faithfulness: Being utterly true and solid (the "Amen").
1. Understanding the Cycle of Shame
We must recognise how the enemy uses shame to keep us "lame":
* The Chain Reaction: Shame → Lies → Procrastination → Feeling "Lame" → Anger → Hate.
* The Problem: Running away during hardship instead of going through it with God.
* The Weight: Recognising that Godly Conviction leads to freedom, while Worldly Condemnation leads to despair (2 Corinthians 7:10).
1. The Divine Reversal
God doesn't just see our brokenness; He transforms it through Jesus:
* For Iniquity (Our "Bent"): He performs a "heart transplant" (Ezekiel 36:26).
* For Depravity (Our "Stain"): He provides a complete washing and renewal (Titus 3:5).
* For Perversity (Our "Stubbornness"): He uses His Word as a straightedge to align us with Truth (Psalm 119:9, 11).
The Final Truth
We must stop leaning on our own warped understanding and lean on His Fullness (Proverbs 3:5-6). As Colossians 2:9 tells us, the fullness of the Godhead lives in Jesus. Where we are depraved, He is Holy. He has forgiven us 100%—now we must let go of the lies and believe!
Thank you all
We give Jesus all the glory
