THE ETERNAL ASSIGNMENT

Content:

 Living with Eternal Perspective, Faithful Stewardship, and the Life-Giving Flow of God's Spirit

 "Teach us to number our days, that we may gain a heart of wisdom." — Psalm 90:12

 "Life will flourish wherever this water flows." — Ezekiel 47:9

There is something about loss and the reality of death that awakens us to truths we often ignore. It reminds us that life is fragile, time is limited, and eternity is real.

James 4:14 tells us:
 "What is your life? You are a mist that appears for a little while and then vanishes."

One of life's greatest deceptions is assuming we have more time. We postpone obedience, delay reconciliation, and put off purpose as though tomorrow is guaranteed.

Yet Scripture reminds us that our earthly lives are temporary, while eternity is forever.

When we live with eternity in view:

āœ… We value people more than possessions.
āœ… We prioritize purpose over comfort.
āœ… We invest in what lasts forever.
āœ… We become intentional about our walk with God.

The reality is that one day our careers, titles, houses, bank accounts, and achievements will remain behind.

Only three things will last forever:

* God
* God's Word
* People

Everything else is temporary.

 Faithful Stewardship

 "Moreover it is required in stewards that one be found faithful." — 1 Corinthians 4:2

Stewardship is not ownership—it is management.

God has entrusted us with:

* Time
* Relationships
* Gifts
* Opportunities
* Influence
* Resources
* The Gospel

The question is not, "How much do I have?"

The question is, "What am I doing with what God has given me?"

Every day is a gift.
Every conversation is an opportunity.
Every relationship is a responsibility.

One day we will give an account for how we managed what God placed in our hands.

 The Greatest Stewardship

 "The one who wins souls is wise." — Proverbs 11:30

The greatest legacy a man can leave is not wealth, status, or accomplishments.
It is helping people find Jesus.

One of the most valuable investment we can make is an eternal investment in people.

 Remaining Connected to the Source

 "Yes, I am the vine; you are the branches. Those who remain in Me, and I in them, will produce much fruit. For apart from Me you can do nothing." — John 15:5

As men, we often rely on our own strength, abilities, and experience. Yet Jesus reminds us that true fruitfulness does not come from striving—it comes from abiding.

A branch does not struggle to produce fruit.
Its responsibility is simply to remain connected to the vine.

An eternity-focused life is not built on human effort but on daily dependence upon Christ.

Faithful stewardship is not about working harder for God; it is about staying connected to God so His life can flow through us.

 Let the River Flow Through You

 "Life will flourish wherever this water flows." — Ezekiel 47:9

In Ezekiel's vision, a river flowed from God's presence, bringing life wherever it went.
Dead places became alive.
Barren places became fruitful.
Broken places became healed.

The river flowed because it remained connected to its source.

Likewise, the fruit Jesus speaks about in John 15 comes from remaining connected to the Vine.
The branch bears fruit because it remains connected.
The river brings life because it remains connected.
God never intended His Spirit to stop with us.
We are not reservoirs.
We are rivers.
The same grace that touched us should touch others.
The same comfort we received should comfort others.
The same hope we carry should reach others.

The branch that stays connected to the Vine becomes the channel through which the River of God flows. Fruitfulness is not the result of striving; it is the result of abiding.

 Reflection Question

If your life ended today, what legacy would remain, and whose eternity would be different because God used you?

 Key Lessons for Men

1ļøāƒ£ Live every day with eternity in view.
2ļøāƒ£ Steward faithfully what God has entrusted to you.
3ļøāƒ£ Invest in people because souls matter forever.
4ļøāƒ£ Stay connected to Christ, the source of lasting fruit.
5ļøāƒ£ Let God's Spirit flow through you to bring life to others.
6ļøāƒ£ Finish faithfully, not merely successfully.

 Quote

"When eternity becomes real, stewardship becomes urgent—because every day is a gift, every soul matters, and God's river is meant to flow through us to bring life to others." šŸ”„šŸ™šŸ½

 Prayer Points

 1: Lord, Help Me Live with Eternity in View

 Teach us to number our days, that we may gain a heart of wisdom.- Psalms 90:12 NIV

Prayer:
Father, help me to number my days and live with an eternal perspective. Deliver me from becoming distracted by temporary things and teach me to prioritize what truly matters. May my life be centred on Your Kingdom, Your purposes, and the souls You have placed around me. Help me to live each day with wisdom, intentionality, and readiness for Your return. In Jesus' name, Amen.

 2: Lord, Make Me a Faithful Steward

 "Moreover it is required in stewards that one be found faithful." — 1 Corinthians 4:2

Prayer:
Father, thank You for every gift, opportunity, relationship, and responsibility You have entrusted to me. Help me to steward my time, talents, resources, influence, and calling faithfully. May I not waste the opportunities You place before me, but use them to glorify You and impact others for eternity. Let me hear Your voice and follow Your leading so that I may finish my race well. In Jesus' name, Amen.

 3: Lord, Let Your River Flow Through Me

 "Life will flourish wherever this water flows." — Ezekiel 47:9

Prayer:
Holy Spirit, let Your life-giving river flow through me. Use me as a channel of Your love, healing, hope, and salvation. Wherever I go, may people encounter Your presence through my words, actions, and testimony. Bring healing to broken hearts, freedom to those carrying burdens, and salvation to those who do not know You. Let my life produce lasting fruit and eternal impact for Your glory. In Jesus' name, Amen.

When It's All Been Said and Done (song by Don Moen)

 When it′s all been said and done
There is just one thing that matters
Did I do my best to live for truth?
Did I live my life for you?

When it's all been said and done
All my treasures will mean nothing
Only what I′ve done for love's reward
Will stand the test of time

Lord, your mercy is so great
That you look beyond our weakness
And find purest gold in miry clay
Turning sinners into saints

And I will always sing Your praise
Here on Earth and ever after
For You've shown me heavens, my true home
When it′s all been said and done
You′re my life when life is gone
