WHEN LIFE DOESN'T MAKE SENSE
Life often presents situations we don't understand.
Sometimes the doctor's report isn't what we expected.
Sometimes finances don't add up.
Sometimes prayers seem unanswered.
Sometimes God appears silent.
Habakkuk teaches us that faith is not the absence of questions. Faith is trusting God when the answers are delayed. Faith is believing God's character when we cannot understand His ways.
🔹 LESSON 1: THERE ARE TWO REPORTS
Every challenge presents us with two reports:
📉 The Report of the World:
* Fear
* Doubt
* Limitations
* Statistics
* Worst-case scenarios
đź“– The Report of the Lord:
• Faith
* Hope
* Promises
* Truth
* God's faithfulness
The world's report focuses on what could go wrong. God's report focuses on what He has promised.
"Who has believed our report?" (Isaiah 53:1)
Facts may be real, but God's Word is truth. Facts can change. Truth remains forever.
🔹 LESSON 2: FAITH DOES NOT DENY REALITY
Biblical faith is not pretending problems don't exist.
David acknowledged Goliath.
Daniel acknowledged the lions.
Moses acknowledged the Red Sea.
Faith doesn't ignore facts—it simply refuses to give them the final word.
God's Word supersedes the word of men.
The report of men is temporary.
The report of the Lord stands forever.
🔹 LESSON 3: THE JUST SHALL LIVE BY FAITH
"The righteous shall live by faith." (Habakkuk 2:4)
Notice Scripture doesn't say: • Visit faith
* Occasionally use faith
It says: Live by faith
Faith is not an emergency response; it is a lifestyle.
Men of faith don't believe only when things are going well. They believe because God is trustworthy.
🔹 LESSON 4: OVERCOMING FEAR
* Fear asks: âť“ "What if things get worse?"
* Faith asks: âť“ "What if God comes through?"
Fear magnifies problems. Faith magnifies God.
"God has not given us a spirit of fear, but of power and of love and of a sound mind." (2 Timothy 1:7)
What we meditate on grows.
What we continually listen to eventually shapes what we believe.
The antidote to fear is not positive thinking. The antidote is faith in God's Word.
🔹 LESSON 5: FAITH WAITS FOR GOD'S TIMING
Faith grows in places where certainty cannot.
God told Habakkuk:
"Though it linger, wait for it; it will certainly come and will not delay." (Habakkuk 2:3)
Waiting seasons often become training grounds where God teaches us deeper trust.
🔹 LESSON 6: REST, RHYTHM & RENEWAL
Waiting on God is not passive inactivity. It is active trust.
Like a waiter remains attentive and ready to serve, those who wait on the Lord remain close to Him, listening, obeying, and responding to His leading.
🕊️ REST
Waiting begins with resting in God's presence.
"Come to me, all you who are weary and burdened, and I will give you rest." (Matthew 11:28)
"Be still, and know that I am God." (Psalm 46:10)
True rest is found not in the absence of problems but in the presence of God.
⏳ RHYTHM
Waiting is a lifestyle, not a one-time event.
It involves daily rhythms of:
* Prayer
* Worship
* Scripture
* Obedience
* Fellowship
"Remain in me, as I also remain in you." (John 15:4-5)
The strongest men spiritually are not those who sprint occasionally, but those who walk consistently with God.
🔥 RENEWAL
When we stay close to God, He renews our strength, refreshes our vision, and aligns us with His purposes.
"Those who wait on the Lord shall renew their strength." (Isaiah 40:31)
We are not merely waiting for something from God—we are waiting on God Himself.
In His presence:
âś… Strength is renewed
âś… Vision is restored
âś… Direction is received
âś… Purpose is revealed
🔹 LESSON 7: REJOICE BEFORE THE BREAKTHROUGH
"Though the fig tree does not bud and there are no grapes on the vines... yet I will rejoice in the Lord." (Habakkuk 3:17-18)
Habakkuk's circumstances had not changed, but his perspective had.
He moved from: ❓ "Why God?" ➡️ 🙏 "I trust God."
Real faith rejoices before the breakthrough because God is still worthy.
🔹 WHAT GOD IS SAYING TO US TODAY
Some of us are carrying questions.
Some are waiting for healing.
Some are waiting for financial breakthrough. Some are waiting for restoration.
Some are waiting for direction.
God's message through Habakkuk is clear:
âś… Keep your eyes on Me.
âś… Trust My timing.
âś… Stand on My promises.
âś… Rest in My presence.
âś… Develop rhythms that keep you close to Me.
âś… Allow Me to renew your strength.
"The words of the Lord are flawless." (Psalm 12:6)
In a world filled with uncertainty, God's Word remains pure, trustworthy, and unchanging.

1. What report am I believing more—the report of my circumstances or the report of God's Word?
2. Where has fear been speaking louder than faith?
3. What promise from God do I need to stand on today?
4. Am I willing to trust God's timing even when I don't understand His process?
Habakkuk 3:17-19 ESV
[17] Though the fig tree should not blossom, nor fruit be on the vines, the produce of the olive fail and the fields yield no food, the flock be cut off from the fold and there be no herd in the stalls, [18] yet I will rejoice in the Lord; I will take joy in the God of my salvation. [19] God, the Lord, is my strength; he makes my feet like the deer’s; he makes me tread on my high places.
Prayer Points:
🙏 Prayer
Father, thank You that You are faithful even when life does not make sense. Teach us to live by faith and not by sight. Help us trust Your report above every other report. Replace fear with faith, anxiety with peace, and striving with rest. Teach us to wait upon You, develop rhythms that keep us close to You, and find renewal in Your presence. Like Habakkuk, may we learn to rejoice in You regardless of our circumstances, knowing that You are faithful and Your Word will never fail. In Jesus' Name, Amen.
