Mark 5:35-42

While he was still speaking to her, messengers arrived from the home of Jairus, the leader of the synagogue. They told him, “Your daughter is dead. There’s no use troubling the Teacher now.”

But Jesus overheard them and said to Jairus, “Don’t be afraid. Just have faith.”

Then Jesus stopped the crowd and wouldn’t let anyone go with him except Peter, James, and John (the brother of James). When they came to the home of the synagogue leader, Jesus saw much commotion and weeping and wailing. He went inside and asked, “Why all this commotion and weeping? The child isn’t dead; she’s only asleep.”

The crowd laughed at him. But he made them all leave, and he took the girl’s father and mother and his three disciples into the room where the girl was lying. Holding her hand, he said to her, “Talitha koum,” which means “Little girl, get up!” And the girl, who was twelve years old, immediately stood up and walked around! They were overwhelmed and totally amazed.

 

 

Romans 8:28

And we know that God causes everything to work together for the good of those who love God and are called according to his purpose for them.

 

John 15:16

You didn’t choose me. I chose you. I appointed you to go and produce lasting fruit, so that the Father will give you whatever you ask for, using my name.

 

Jeremiah 1:5

“I knew you before I formed you in your mother’s womb.

Before you were born I set you apart

and appointed you as my prophet to the nations.”

 

The categories of people in this situation: 

 

The crowd.

 

Mark 5:22-23

And behold, one of the rulers of the synagogue came, Jairus by name. And when he saw Him, he fell at His feet and begged Him earnestly, saying, “My little daughter lies at the point of death. Come and lay Your hands on her, that she may be healed, and she will live.”

 

• The crowd laughed at him. But he made them all leave,

• The people were following Jesus for the show.

• They had no stake on issue at hand.

• They came to offer support but not to be the solution.

 

1 Peter 2:9

But you are a chosen generation, a royal priesthood, a holy nation, His own special people, that you may proclaim the praises of Him who called you out of darkness into His marvelous light;

 

That we may be the light and salt in every situation we find ourselves. That we will not just be part of the crowd but be the solution in the crowd.

 

The disciples.

 

Mark 5:37

And He permitted no one to follow Him except Peter, James, and John the brother of James.

• Jesus was intentional in hand pick the disciples to take with him on this mission.

• This are people that had a relationship with Jesus and possibly been in ministry with Jesus.

• Matthew 17:1 Now after six days Jesus took Peter, James, and John his brother, led them up on a high mountain by themselves;

 

Question: 

1. would Jesus hand pick you for the mission. 

2. Do you have the capacity or experience to be handpicked for the mission.

3. Do you carry the answers to the situation.

 

2 Timothy 2:20

But in a great house there are not only vessels of gold and silver, but also of wood and clay, some for honor and some for dishonor.

 

Prayer point.

Lord help me be the vessel you can use in time of challenges. Lord help us to be ready at all time in all seasons. Lord equip us and strengthen us in the inner man to be a source of strap those around us. 

 

 

The parents.

He took the mother & father.

 

Mark 5:40

And they ridiculed Him. But when He had put them all outside, He took the father and the mother of the child, and those who were with Him, and entered where the child was lying.

 

• They had a stake in the matter.

• They had a biological relationship.

• They had everything to loss. This was personal to them.

• This was not just a dead body but their daughter.

 

John 19:25-26

Now there stood by the cross of Jesus His mother, and His mother’s sister, Mary the wife of Clopas, and Mary Magdalene. When Jesus therefore saw His mother, and the disciple whom He loved standing by, He said to His mother, “Woman, behold your son!”

 

Isaiah 40:29

He gives power to the weak,

And to those who have no might He increases strength.

 

Prayer point.

Lord help us to have the grace to stand during our most challenging situations. Lord give us the capacity the weight and to endure to the end.

 

And finally the dead body of the young girl.
