*Genesis 3:8-13* - “And they heard the sound of the Lord God walking in the garden in the cool of the day, and Adam and his wife hid themselves from the presence of the Lord God among the trees of the garden. Then the Lord God called to Adam and said to him, *“Where are you?”* So he said, “I heard Your voice in the garden, and I was afraid because I was naked; and I hid myself.” 

 

And He said, *“Who told you* that you were naked*?* Have you eaten from the tree of which I commanded you that you should not eat?” Then the man said, “The woman whom You gave to be with me, she gave me of the tree, and I ate.” And the Lord God said to the woman, *“What is this you have done?”* The woman said, “The serpent deceived me, and I ate.””

 

*Reflections*

1. Disobedience removes the glory-covering of God from Man (*Romans 3:23* - “All have sinned and fallen short of the glory of God.”)

2. Disobedience exposes and leaves Man naked.

3. Shame triggers the need for a covering.

4. You can still hear God even in a state of disobedience.

5. God continues to minister to you even in a state of disobedience (*Genesis 3:9* - “Adam, where are you?”)

6. The voice that was once soft and gentle now is perceived as one that triggers fear and anxiety.

 

“*When you allow another voice to coerce you into disobey God, you vacate where He has placed you*.”

 

*You cannot legislate or govern and reign in life except from the location God has placed you.*

 

*Disobedience is stepping outside the will of God.*

 

Anytime you intentionally follow your impulses and will and not God’s, you disobey Him, sin and fall short of His glory. You are hence relieved of your place and position. *Romans 6:1* - “What shall we say then? Shall we continue in sin that grace may abound?

 

Every time you leave where God’s has designated you, you would be asked:

 

I. *Where are you?*

*Ephesians 2:6* - “And has raised us up together, and made us sit together in the heavenly places in Christ Jesus.”

 

Because of where you sit, you can hear clearly the voice of the Master to legislate on earth God’s will as it is in heaven.

Father, help me remain in Christ where you have seated me. I renounce every impulse that may lure me away from Your presence.

 

II. *Who told you?*

*John 10:27* -  “My sheep hears my voice, and I know them, and they follow me.”

 

Eve came in contact with a piece of intel that did not originate from God. This include:

- Information about your identity

- Information about your inheritance

- Information about your capability

- Information about your accessibility

 

Eve’s decision not only had a far-reaching consequence on her own life, but on the life of her spouse, Adam, and her subsequent children and future generation.

 

*Prayer Point 2*

Father, help me to always recognise Your speaking’s. Let Your voice guide me in all my decision-making at all times. Protect me from possible response to ungodly impulses that may bring painful consequences to me and my generation IJN.

 

III. *What is this that you have done?*

*Matthew 6:10* - “Thy kingdom come. Thy will be done in earth, as it is in heaven.”

 

*John 4:34* - “Jesus said to them, My food is to do the will of Him who sent me, and to finish His work.”

 

*Your principal assignment and purpose in life is to do the will of God.*

Father, let your Kingdom be established in every area of my life. Strengthen me to do your will at all times and in all seasons.
