Topic:  DELIGHT YOURSELF IN THE LORD

Content:

*Psalm 37:4* _Delight yourself in the Lord, and he will give you the desires of your heart_

Delighting yourself in the Lord isn’t just about enjoying or taking pleasure in God… it’s also about finding contentment and satisfaction in Him

*Matthew 6:33* - _But seek first His kingdom and His righteousness, and all these things will be given to you as well_

Notice how Matthew 6:33 and Psalm 37:4 parallel each other…..Both contain two important points:

*1*. Take delight in God; and
*2*. He will give you what you need

*What does it mean to delight yourself in the Lord?*

*1*. Wanting to glorify God in everything we do

*1 Corinthians 10:31* _So whether you eat or drink or whatever you do, do it all for the glory of God_

*2*. Yearning for God’s will to be done in every situation

*3*. Desiring God's presence in our lives

Before God will ask us for anything, He demonstrated it to us first. In the beginning, God spoke the world into existence.
But God wanted to make something more. Something extra-special.

*Genesis 1:26* _Then God said, "Let us make human beings in our image, to be like us_

He sacrificed His only Son to save us from sin *John 3:16*, and our salvation is premised on His delight for us.

Because God delights in us, that is why in said

*John 15:16* _Ye have not chosen me, but I have chosen you, and ordained you, that ye should go and bring forth fruit, and that your fruit should remain: that whatsoever ye shall ask of the Father in my name, he may give it to you_

Prayer Points:

 *Prayer*

_Thank You for bearing our sins and giving us the gift of eternal life. We pray that You impart to us Your wisdom to understand that we shouldn't strive for the earthly things, but for something that will last forever, which is to delight in you_

*So let's look at a few ways to delight ourselves in the Lord*

*1*. Fall in love with His Word/His ways
The first lesson on how to delight ourselves in the Lord is simply to delight in His Word!

*Hebrews 4:12* _For the Word of God is living and powerful, and sharper than any two-edged sword, piercing even to the division of soul and spirit, and of joints and marrow, and is a discerner of the thoughts and intents of the heart_

*2*. Relish your connection with God in prayer
Prayer is not always easy. waking up at 5 am every day can only happen to people whose delight is in the Lord.

*Psalm 116:1-2* _I love the LORD because he hears my voice and my prayer for mercy. Because he bends down to listen, I will pray as long as I have breath_

*3*. Extend love and forgiveness to others
This may seem like a strange method of delighting yourself in the Lord. But, when we do it, it can be quite a joyful experience.
The same goes for accepting God’s love and mercy towards yourself as well.

*Prayer*
_I pray that as I make every effort to nurture the Holy Spirit within me, you would use me to pour love, joy, peace, patience, kindness, goodness, and faithfulness into others around me. Father, when they see me, I pray they see you_

*Prayer points*

_Father, let the refining fire of the Holy Spirit and the purifying power of the blood of Jesus clean me and make my whole life fit for the manifestation of God’s glory, in Jesus name_

*Malachi 3:3* _And he shall sit as a refiner and purifier of silver: and he shall purify the sons of Levi, and purge them as gold and silver, that they may offer unto the LORD an offering in righteousness_

_Let us pray and ask God to help us become all that He wants us to be in Christ Jesus, for that’s the way to manifest His glory on earth_

*Romans 8:29* _For whom he did foreknow, he also did predestinate to be conformed to the image of his Son, that he might be the firstborn among many brethren_

In all, learning how to delight yourself in the Lord is simply a matter of getting to know Him better! When we know God more, we see His goodness, and we want to grow closer to Him. And the desires of our hearts will be fulfilled

*2 Corinthians 9:8* _And God is able to make all grace come in abundance to you, so that you may always have complete sufficiency in everything, and have an abundance for every good work and act_
