Topic: STORMS DISTRACT AND CREATE FEAR
Content:
Human beings are wired to fear, and they build their lives around responses to fear which in the corporate parlance is referred to as risk response or the mitigation of risk. I will be quick to acknowledge the great role risk management has played in saving lives and properties in recent history. However, nothing man-made has been able to eliminate fear or risk, such that we can live in a world that is free from fear.
The storms of life are there to distract you and create fear. They are like dark clouds whirling around a true and lasting treasure God already made for us. Just like light shine out of darkness, so we are to bring out our miracles in the midst of the storm. Always try to find your miracle in the midst of the storm.
1 Corinthians 10:13 TPT
We all experience times of testing, which is normal for every human being. But God will be faithful to you. He will screen and filter the severity, nature, and timing of every test or trial you face so that you can bear it. And each test is an opportunity to trust him more, for along with every trial God has provided for you a way of escape that will bring you out of it victoriously.
How do we extract our miracles in the midst of the storm?
1. Focus on the word and not the storm.
Matthew 14:25-30
Now in the fourth watch of the night Jesus went to them, walking on the sea. And when the disciples saw Him walking on the sea, they were troubled, saying, “It is a ghost!” And they cried out for fear. But immediately Jesus spoke to them, saying, “Be of good cheer! It is I; do not be afraid.” And Peter answered Him and said, “Lord, if it is You, command me to come to You on the water.” So He said, “Come.” And when Peter had come down out of the boat, he walked on the water to go to Jesus. But when he saw that the wind was boisterous, he was afraid; and beginning to sink he cried out, saying, “Lord, save me!."
2. Say the word, and not the storm.
Our words set spiritual forces into action. Don't allow the time gap for your words to mix with unbelief.
Hebrews 13:5-6
.... For He Himself has said, “I will never leave you nor forsake you.” So we may boldly *say*: “The Lord is my helper; I will not fear. What can man do to me?”
Mark 11:23
... "You shall have what you say."
3. Obey the word, not the storm.
Luke 5:5-6
But Simon answered and said to Him, “Master, we have toiled all night and caught nothing; nevertheless at Your word, I will let down the net.” And when they had done this, they caught a great number of fish, and their net was breaking.
