Mathew 13:3-9
Then he told them many things in parables, saying: “A farmer went out to sow his seed. 4 As he was scattering the seed, some fell along the path, and the birds came and ate it up. 5 Some fell on rocky places, where it did not have much soil. It sprang up quickly, because the soil was shallow. 6 But when the sun came up, the plants were scorched, and they withered because they had no root. 7 Other seed fell among thorns, which grew up and choked the plants. 8 Still other seed fell on good soil, where it produced a crop—a hundred, sixty or thirty times what was sown. 9 Whoever has ears, let them hear.”

What do we see when we see a seed ?
We see something that can do nothing .
When a farmer looks at a seed, he sees a great harvest, he sees thousands of more seeds, he sees trees that will bear fruit not only for himself but for others as well.
God’s word is like a seed and it has the power to bring forth a hundred fold harvest and to be a blessing to us and those around us.
What does the seed need to bring a harvest ?
It needs the right amount of sunlight.
It needs the right amount of water.
It needs the right kind of soil.

The seed of God’s word also needs these three things.
The sunlight of God’s word needs prayer to bring forth fruit.
It needs the right amount of water that is the presence of the holy spirit without who’s power the seed cannot bring forth fruit.
It needs the right kind of soil which is the condition of our heart.

In Mathew 13 we see 4 kinds of soil
1.The first kind of soil is the heart that receives the seed but does not understand what it means, and the seed is immediately snatched away by satan so that it does not bear fruit.

2.The second kind of soil is the soil that is filled with rocks and stones.
The seed that falls on this kind of heart immediately sprouts, but the roots are trying to grow deep but they keep hitting against rocks.
What could be the rocks and stones in our hearts? , could it be anger , pride bitterness, ego. All these things are keeping Gods word from growing deeper.

3.The third kind of soil is the soil that is filled with thorns. Here the seed is growing well but there are other things growing around it that are stealing away the nutrients and nourishments what the seed of Gods word should be getting.

4.The forth kind of soil is the good soil that receives the word, understand it, grows up and nourishes the seed of Gods word continuously and it brings forth a good harvest.

Prayer Points:

 PRAYER

What kind of soil do we want to sow the seed (word)of God , pray that its the good soil that nourishes us that brings a good harvest , it reproduces in our lives as we get the nourishment daily to sow the seed in the lives of others around us.
