Topic:  FINDING A WAY IN THE WILL

Content:

*Romans 1:8-13* - “First, I thank my God through Jesus Christ for you all, that *your faith is spoken of throughout the whole world*. 9 For God is my witness, whom I serve with my spirit in the gospel of His Son, that without ceasing I make mention of you always in my prayers, 10 making request if, by some means, *_now_ at last I may find a way in the will of God* to come to you.

11 For I long to see you, *that* I may impart to you some spiritual gift, *so that* you may be established— 12 *that is*, that I may be encouraged together with you by the mutual faith both of you and me.

13 *_Now_* I do not want you to be unaware, brethren, that *I often planned to come to you (but was hindered until _now_)*, that I might have some fruit among you also, just as among the other Gentiles.”

A popular saying, “*Where there is a will, there is a way!*”

The question you should ask yourself however is, “How many times have I forced my will to find a way which eventually leads to disappointment or destruction?”

*Proverbs 14:12* declares “There is *a way that _seems right_ to a man*, but its end is the way of death.”

Secondly, are our desires rooted in kingdom-expression?

*Reflections about Paul the Apostle in the lead up to Romans 1:10*

1.  appreciated God and his people and constantly gave thanks.
2. He recognised and acknowledged the place of faith in a believer’s existence (*Habakkuk 2:4* - “The just shall live by faith.”)
3. A worshipper of God, who served Him with his spirit (*John 4:23*).
4. A prayer and an intercessor with spiritual maturity and experience. One who was able to humbly demand the assistance of heaven through his priesthood privilege.
5. Yet needed to exercise *grit* - passion and perseverance - to have his desire met.

Verse 10 of the book of Romans states, “_*Now at last I may find a way in the will of God to come to you.*_”
6. Not until Paul was able to find a way in the will of God, the fulfilment of his desire was hindered. As if he really wanted his audience to know for a fact, in verse 13, he writes, “Now I do not want you to be unaware, brethren, that I often planned to come to you (*but was hindered until now*).”

*While the carnal man may use his will to find a way; the spiritual man, first, patiently finds God’s will and then finds a way in His will.*
