Topic: THE SWORD OF DAVID
Content:
1 Samuel 21
8 And David said to Ahimelech, “Is there not here on hand a spear or a sword? For I have brought neither my sword nor my weapons with me, because the king’s business required haste.”
9 So the priest said, “The sword of Goliath the Philistine, whom you killed in the Valley of Elah, there it is, wrapped in a cloth behind the ephod. If you will take that, take it. For there is no other except that one here.”
And David said, “There is none like it; give it to me.”
Here, the sword has a twofold symbolism:
a. Symbolism of resources that the enemy has prepared to use against you.
The Lord will give you these resources to use against the enemy.
1 Samuel 17
But there was no sword in the hand of David. 51 Therefore David ran and stood over the Philistine, took his sword and drew it out of its sheath and killed him, and cut off his head with it.
The Lord will give you these resources to establish you in your next chapter of grace.
1 Samuel 21
“There is none like it; give it to me.”
Prayer Points:
Prayer:
Now faith is the [a]substance of things hoped for, the [b]evidence of things not seen
Let’s pray for a faith to believe that God will hand the enemy’s resources to us and that we will be effective in battle.
b. Symbolism of the word of God
Ephesians 6
17 And take the helmet of salvation, and the sword of the Spirit, which is the word of God
Hebrews 4
12 For the word of God is living and powerful, and sharper than any two-edged sword, piercing even to the division of soul and spirit, and of joints and marrow, and is a discerner of the thoughts and intents of the heart.
Prayer:
Psalm 119:105
Your word is a lamp to my feet
And a light to my path.
