In the book of Revelation, we find John the Apostle on the island of Patmos around AD 60-65 during the reign of Roman Emperor Domitian. It is within this context that a profound revelation unfolds, A calling to a new level.

This calling requires three essential elements, and the first one is having a right spirit. 

 

*1. THE NEW LEVEL REQUIRES A RIGHT SPIRIT – verse 1*

In verse 1, John mentions that he saw an open door in heaven and heard a voice inviting him to come up higher. This invitation signifies an elevation to a new dimension, but it also implies that our spirit must be aligned with God's will.

To fully embrace this calling and step into this new level, we need to have a right spirit within us. We must cultivate an attitude of humility, surrendering our own desires and aligning ourselves with God's purpose for our lives.

 

"Lord, create in me a right spirit." May we be open and receptive to His leading as we embark on this journey towards the new dimension, He has called us to. Remember, it is not by our own strength or abilities alone that we can reach this new level; it is through the power of God working within us. 

 

*2. THE NEW LEVEL REQUIRES THE RIGHT SIGHT – verse 2*

To reach this new level, it requires having the right sight. In verse 2, John mentions that he was in the Spirit when he saw a door standing open in heaven. This indicates that he had a spiritual perception beyond his physical surroundings. As we reflect on this passage, we can apply it to our own lives by praying for God to open our eyes to see beyond where we are currently at. We long for a deeper understanding of His plans and purposes for our lives..

*3. THE NEW LEVEL REQUIRES THE RIGHT SYMBOLS*

John's calling to a new dimension teaches us that the path to spiritual growth requires embracing courage, patience, and intelligence. These qualities, symbolized by the lion, calf, man, and the eagle.

 

*a. Lion - Courage:* The lion represents courage. In our spiritual journey, we often encounter challenges and obstacles that require unwavering bravery to overcome. This symbol encourages us to face adversity with the heart of a lion, unyielding and resolute.

 

*b. Calf - Patience:* The calf symbolizes patience. Spiritual growth takes time. Just as a calf matures into a strong and mighty beast, our understanding deepens with patience and persistence. This symbol reminds us to embrace the journey and not rush the process.

 

*c. Man - Intelligence:* The representation of a man symbolizes intelligence. It's essential to study, learn, and seek knowledge to decipher the deeper meanings of our experiences and revelations.

 

*d. Eagle - First Law of Thermodynamics:* The eagle, often associated with soaring heights, can be linked to the first law of thermodynamics – energy cannot be created or destroyed, only transformed. In our spiritual journey, we must understand that our energy and experiences are constantly transforming. We should channel this energy wisely to elevate ourselves to new dimensions of understanding.
