1 John 5:14-15 - Now this is the confidence that we have in Him, that if we ask anything according to His will, He hears us. And if we know that He hears us, whatever we ask, we know that we have the petitions that we have asked of Him.” 1 John 5:4-5 - “For whatever is born of God overcomes the world. And this is the victory that has overcome the world - our faith. Who is he who overcomes the world, but he who believes that Jesus is the Son of God?
John 1:13 underscores repentance and I paraphrase thus: “As many as confessed, repent of their sins, and received Him as the Lord and Saviour, to them He have the right to become the children of God, to those who believe in His name: who were born, not of blood, nor of the will of the flesh, nor of the will of man, but of God.” 2 Peter 1:3 states “As His divine power has given to us all things all things that pertain to life and godliness, through the true knowledge of Him who called us by His own glory and excellence.” 1 John 5:15 - “And if we know that He hears us, whatever we ask, we know that we have the petitions that we have asked of Him.” John 11:41 highlights the importance of God hearing us. Jesus praying, said, “...Father, I thank You that You have heard Me,
And I know that You always hear Me, but because of the people who are standing by I said this, that they may believe that You sent Me.” Action Point I believe that Jesus is the Son of God. As I believe in His name too, You have given me the right to become a child of God, therefore I am born of God and hence overcome the world to establish Your will here on earth as is it in heaven. Now this is the confidence that I have in You, that if I ask anything according to Your will, You hear me. Your will according to [insert the specific scripture(s)] is that [insert your precise petition]. I thank You because I know You hear me, and whatever I ask, I know that I have the petition that I have asked of You. IJN An Example I believe that Jesus is the Son of God. As I believe in His name too, You have given me the right to become a child of God, therefore I am born of God and hence overcome the world to establish Your will here on earth as is it in heaven.
Now this is the confidence that I have in You, that if I ask anything according to Your will, You hear me. Your will according to [Philippians 4:19 - “And my God shall supply all my need according to Your riches in glory by Christ Jesus] is that [all the financial resources needed to run MAGH efficiently is made available so that we can organise and invite men that are currently ensnared and kept under Satan’s servitude be delivered and hence experience the light and life of Jesus Christ].
I thank You because I know You hear me, and whatever I ask, I know that I have the petition that I have asked of You. IJN

Reflections
1. The beginning of verse 15 does not say, if we suppose, assume, or think, it states “If we know…”. The conviction of knowing is key here. a. This knowledge comes through intimacy with God. b. “If we know …then we have...” c. We know that we have whatever we ask if we know that He hears. d. The point is not, that if God hears our prayers, he grants them but that if we know that He hears our prayers… e. Also, the point is not, that if we ask anything He hears us, but if we ask anything according to His will, he hears us.
2. What is a petition? “A petition is a request to do something, most commonly addressed to a government official or public entity.”
