Behold, how good and how pleasant it is

For brethren to dwell together in unity!

Psalms 23:5

You prepare a table before me in the presence of my enemies;

You anoint my head with oil;

My cup runs over.

 

Isaiah 61:1-2

“The Spirit of the Lord GOD is upon Me,

Because the LORD has anointed Me

To preach good tidings to the poor;

He has sent Me to heal the brokenhearted,

To proclaim liberty to the captives,

And the opening of the prison to those who are bound;

To proclaim the acceptable year of the LORD,

And the day of vengeance of our God;

To comfort all who mourn,

 

Psalms 92:10

But my horn You have exalted like a wild ox;

I have been anointed with fresh oil.

 

Isaiah 10:27

It shall come to pass in that day

That his burden will be taken away from your shoulder,

And his yoke from your neck,

And the yoke will be destroyed because of the anointing oil.

 

“The anointing ON YOU is our collective responsibility but the anointing IN YOU is your personal responsibility” 

 

We take corporate responsibility but more importantly we take personal responsibility to ensure we are oiled up! 

 

It’s the anointing in you that affects the world around you and impacts corporate anointing. 

 

• The anointing is what gives you the action to faction in your office. 

 

• The primary purpose of anointing with the holy anointing oil was to sanctify, to set the anointed person or object apart as “holy" (Exodus 30:29-30)

 

Exodus 30:29-30

You shall consecrate them, that they may be most holy; whatever touches them must be holy. And you shall anoint Aaron and his sons, and consecrate them, that they may minister to Me as priests.

 

How do we increase the anointing IN US? 

1. Personal prayer.

2. ⁠Reading the word.

3. ⁠Taking initiative to serve.

 

Some statements 

• We are anointed for each season of our lives. 

• We are anointed for the assignment over our lives.

• We are anointed for every office or level we enter into. Anointed for every level we step into. 

 

The three times David was anointed. 

 

1. Anointed before his family. 

1 Samuel 16:13

Then Samuel took the horn of oil and anointed him in the midst of his brothers; and the Spirit of the LORD came upon David from that day forward. So Samuel arose and went to Ramah.

 

• The first anointing of David by Prophet Samuel before his family. 

• It is interesting to note that David, who wasn’t even considered and was overlooked by man, was chosen by God.

• God gave David recognition before his family first. The anointing start at home. 

• After this, David faced and conquered Goliath. Satan will challenge God’s anointing on us, but we must face him down and take him down in the anointing of the Lord. 

• Then, David had ongoing trouble with Saul, yet he behaved wisely. Saul pursued David for years, trying to kill him, but God protected David, His anointed one.

• “Dodge the javelin take the kingdom!”

 

 

 

2. Anointed as King over his Tribe.

 

2 Samuel 2:4

Then the men of Judah came, and there they anointed David king over the house of Judah. And they told David, saying, “The men of Jabesh Gilead were the ones who buried Saul.”

 

• This is the second anointing of David, which occurred after Saul’s death. 

• The tribe of Judah recognized David as God’s choice for their king. 

• David ruled over Judah and waited for God to bring him to the throne of all of Israel at a later time. 

• Seven and a half years passed until that happened. God was still training David. We are constantly in training- at all times and at all levels of our walk. 

• For David, each anointing brought battles, tests, maturing, growth in leadership, and so forth. And his anointing increased at each level. 

• it takes God’s anointing- His power and ability- on our lives for us to be and do what God has for us.

 

 

3. Anointed as King over all of Israel.

 

2 Samuel 5:1-4

 

Then all the tribes of Israel came to David at Hebron and spoke, saying, “Indeed we are your bone and your flesh. Also, in time past, when Saul was king over us, you were the one who led Israel out and brought them in; and the LORD said to you, You shall shepherd My people Israel, and be ruler over Israel.’ ” Therefore all the elders of Israel came to the king at Hebron, and King David made a covenant with them at Hebron before the LORD. And they anointed David king over Israel. David was thirty years old when he began to reign, and he reigned forty years.

 

• Finally, Israel anoints David to be king. David was anointed here at age 30 as King. 

• Once David was anointed as king over all the tribes, the Philistines came out against him. 

• Opposition came with each anointing to fight and win. David defeated the Philistines.

 

Kings, priest and prophets.

 

In addition, David was actually anointed in three offices. 

In similar fashion, we have been anointed in those same offices as kings, priests, and prophets.

 

• Kings: We rule in life 

 

Revelation 5:10

And have made us kings and priests to our God; And we shall reign on the earth.”

 

• Priests: We minister to God and others. 

 

Revelation 5:10

And have made us kings and priests to our God; And we shall reign on the earth.”

 

 

• Prophets: We are the prophets of our own lives, speaking God’s Word.

 

2 Corinthians 4:13

And since we have the same spirit of faith, according to what is written, “I believed and therefore I spoke,” we also believe and therefore speak,

 

Finally let us pray that we will enter into all the above offices. 

 

Protecting the anointing by guarding your heart from offences & negative emotions. 

 

Proverbs 4:23

 

23Keep your heart with all diligence,
For out of it spring the issues of life.

Let us pray for the family altar of the different families. Let pray that the gifting and calling will be identified and encouraged at home.
