Topic: HANDLING THE ‘D’ WORD ON YOUR WAY TO THE 'E'
Content:
1Kings 19:1-4 ”And Ahab told Jezebel all that Elijah had done, also how he had executed all the prophets with the sword. Then Jezebel sent a messenger to Elijah, saying, “So let the gods do to me, and more also, if I do not make your life as the life of one of them by tomorrow about this time.”
And when he saw that, he arose and ran for his life, and went to Beersheba, which belongs to Judah, and left his servant there. But he himself went a day’s journey into the wilderness, and came and sat down under a broom tree. And he prayed that he might die, and said, “It is enough! Now, Lord, take my life, for I am no better than my fathers!”
Reflections on Daniel 11:32
1. Do I have to know God to do exploits?
Those who do wickedly against the covenant, he [the Northern king] shall corrupt with flattery.
2. Does everything have to be right for me do exploits?
The atmosphere that will set up your exploits might be contrary to doing exploits.
3. Do the powers that be have to be in alignment with me to do exploits?
The powers that be were not in favour of Moses, Daniel and the three boys or even Jesus Christ.
4. Is doing exploits the same as taking risks?
Doing exploits in God is based on faith in God. According to Hebrews 11:1, faith is the assurance of things hoped for; the conviction of things not seen.
Assurance and conviction are not terms used in the same discussion as ‘risks.’

Prayer Point
Father, I activate the faith necessary and sufficient for me to be strong and do great exploits in You this year. Help me to know You more as I make the Secret Place my dwelling place.
The 'D' word is Disappointment/Discouragement and the ‘E’ word is Exploits.
Isaiah 40:28-31 ”Have you not known? Have you not heard? The everlasting God, the Lord, The Creator of the ends of the earth, Neither faints nor is weary. His understanding is unsearchable. He gives power to the weak, And to those who have no might He increases strength.
Even the youths shall faint and be weary, And the young men shall utterly fall, But those who wait on the Lord Shall renew their strength; They shall mount up with wings like eagles, They shall run and not be weary, They shall walk and not faint.“
On your way to great exploits, you need to handle disappointment/discouragement by doing the following:
1. Prepare for it, praise and give thanks
Romans 8:28 "And we know that all things work together for good to those who love God, to those who are the called according to His purpose."
Philippians 4:6-7 "Do not be anxious about anything, but in every situation, by prayer and petition, with thanksgiving, present your requests to God.
And the peace of God, which transcends all understanding, will guard your hearts and your minds in Christ Jesus"
2. Be humble
Philippians 2:5 "Let this mind be in you which was also in Christ Jesus, 6 who, being in the form of God, did not consider it robbery to be equal with God, 7 but made Himself of no reputation, taking the form of a bondservant, and coming in the likeness of men.
3. Acknowledge your disappointment/discouragement, to God and to yourself
Proverbs 3:6 "In all your ways acknowledge Him, and He shall direct your paths.”
Prayer Point
Father, help me to remain steadfast in You in every area of life. I give my anxiety, distress, discouragement and disappointments to you. In exchange I receive courage, joy and strength to stay myself on Your word and Your promises. I declare my conviction that what You have promised You are able to do IJN.
4. Locate wisdom in the place of prayer and in the meditation on God’s word
Ephesians 1:15-18 "Therefore I also, after I heard of your faith in the Lord Jesus and your love for all the saints, 16 do not cease to give thanks for you, making mention of you in my prayers: 17 that the God of our Lord Jesus Christ, the Father of glory, may give to you the spirit of wisdom and revelation in the knowledge of Him, 18 the eyes of your understanding being enlightened."
5. Learn from it
Hebrews 10:35 “Do not throw away your confidence, which has a great reward."
6. Lean on God’s grace
Psalm 34:18 "The Lord is near to those who have a broken heart, and saves such as have a contrite spirit"
Proverbs 3:5 "Trust in the Lord with all your heart, and lean not on your own understanding."
7. Be patient
Hebrews 6:11-12 "And we desire that each one of you show the same diligence to the full assurance of hope until the end, 12 that you do not become sluggish, but imitate those who through faith and patience inherit the promises.”
Prayer Point
Father, You have not given me the spirit of fear, but of power, of love and a sound mind. I trust in You and choose not to lean on my own understanding. Help me to imitate those who through faith and patience inherit the promises IJN.
