Exodus 33:11 - “So the LORD spoke to Moses face to face, as a man speaks to his friend. And he would return to the camp, but his servant Joshua the son of Nun, a young man, did not depart from the tabernacle.”

Matthew 5:8 - “Blessed are the pure in heart, for they shall see God.”

1. There is a link between the disposition of your heart and your ability to perceive the spiritual.
2. Your heart is the conduit between the physical and the spiritual.
3. As a clean heart is a portal to see God, He demands purity, not two-faced motives or ambivalence.

Word-studies
Heart (Kardia) - the affective center of our being and the capacity of moral preference (Volitional desire, choice); desire-producer that makes us tick, desire-decisions that establish who really are.

Purpose of Matthew 5:8
- Jesus introduces the concept of purity of heart in the Beatitudes, focusing on internal purity rather than external rituals or actions.
- The term “pure in heart” signifies being singular, unified, and consistent in devotion to God.
- Those who are pure in heart will have the privilege of seeing and knowing God more intimately, experiencing His intentions, desires, and love.

Having a pure heart involves aligning oneself with the truth of God, magnifying His worth, and pursuing Him with single-mindedness. Purity of heart is not merely about external actions but about the intentions and desires within a person. It is described as a state where one wills one thing - the glory of God.

The Significance of Purity of Heart
Purity of heart refers to a state of inner cleanliness, free from malice, deceit, and impurity. It signifies sincerity, honesty, and a genuine desire for goodness. Those with pure hearts are said to possess a deep sense of integrity and moral uprightness.

Seeing God
“To see God” means we finally:
- Understand
- Discern
…the beauty and the glory of God after being blind to it.

The promise of seeing God is a symbolic representation of spiritual enlightenment and divine revelation. It suggests that those who cultivate purity within themselves will have a clearer perception of God’s presence, grace, and truth in their lives.

Who may ascend into the hill of the Lord? Or who may stand in His holy place?

4 He who has clean hands and a pure heart, Who has not lifted up his soul to an idol,Nor sworn deceitfully.

5 He shall receive blessing from the Lord, And righteousness from the God of his salvation.

6 This is Jacob, the generation of those who seek Him, Who seek Your face. Selah

Do you live your life in a way that reflects a genuine desire to encounter God?

Prayer Point

[Pray using the lyrics from Refiner’s Fire]

Refiner’s Fire
Purify my heart. Let me be as gold and precious silver
Purify my heart. Let me be as gold, pure gold
Refiner's fire. My heart's one desire
Is to be holy set apart for you Lord

I want to be holy set apart for you, my Master
Ready to do your will

The idea of purity of heart is closely linked to the concept of seeing God. To see God is not just about a physical vision but about being admitted into His presence, experiencing His glory, and being comforted by His grace. This vision of God is attainable through purity, as impurity hinders one from truly encountering the divine.

Prayer Point
Father, I proclaim that I am part of the generation seeking Your face. Help me to maintain clean hands and a pure heart. May the Holy Spirit eradicate all idols from my soul. Grant me the privilege of witnessing Your glory with a heart free from all impurities. IJN
