Topic: FELLOWSHIP OF HIS SUFFERING
Content:
Philippians 3:7-11 - “But what things were gain to me, these I have counted loss for Christ.
8 Yet indeed I also count all things loss for the excellence of the knowledge of Christ Jesus my Lord, for whom I have suffered the loss of all things, and count them as rubbish, that I may gain Christ;
9 and be found in Him, not having my own righteousness, which is from the law, but that which is through faith in Christ, the righteousness which is from God by faith;
10 that I may know Him and the power of His resurrection, and the fellowship of His sufferings, being conformed to His death.”
…Not the fellowship of His pleasure.
Matthew 4- “Then Jesus was led up by the Spirit into the wilderness to be tempted by the devil. 2 And when He had fasted forty days and forty nights, afterward He was hungry.”
1. SACRIFICE: Knowing God comes at the cost of submission.
2. SEPARATION: To know God demands you are ready for a wilderness experience.
3. STAPLE: You eat a different diet. (See Elijah, Daniel and the three Hebrew boys).
Pray - I beseech you therefore, brethren, by the mercies of God, that you present your bodies a living sacrifice, holy, acceptable to God, which is your reasonable service. 2 And do not be conformed to this world, but be transformed by the renewing of your mind, that you may prove what is that good and acceptable and perfect will of God.
Romans 12:1-2
4. STAND: You have a target on your back and hence take a stand and fight the fight of faith. 1Tim 6:12. You are going to stop on spiritual toes.
5. SOLITUDE: You have to manage aloneness. Wherefore come out from among them, and be ye separate, saith the Lord, and touch not the unclean thing; and I will receive you. (2 Corinthians 6:17)
Pray - Finally, be strong in the Lord and in his mighty power. 11 Put on the full armour of God, so that you can take your stand against the devil’s schemes. Therefore put on the full armour of God, so that when the day of evil comes, you may be able to stand your ground, and after you have done everything, to stand.
Ephesians 6:10-18
