1 Peter 1:3-9 *- ““Blessed be the God and Father of our Lord Jesus Christ, which according to his abundant mercy has *begotten us again unto a lively hope by the resurrection of Jesus Christ from the dead, to an inheritance incorruptible, and undefiled, and that fade not away, reserved in heaven for you, who are kept by the power of God through faith unto salvation ready to be revealed in the last time.”

6 Wherein you greatly rejoice, though now for a season, if need be, you are in heaviness through manifold temptations: that the trial of your faith, being much more precious than of gold that perishes, though it be tried with fire, might be found unto praise and honour and glory at the appearing of Jesus Christ: whom having not seen, you love; in whom, though now you see him not, yet believing, you rejoice with joy unspeakable and full of glory: receiving the end of your faith, even the salvation of your souls.”

Verse 6 - “Wherein you greatly rejoice, though now for a season, if need be, you are in heaviness through manifold temptations:”

1. Every believer always has something to greatly rejoice about.
2. Your joy arises from things spiritual and heavenly.
- Your relationship with God and Lord Jesus Christ.
- Your inheritance incorruptible and undefiled.
- Kept by the power of God through faith.
3. You can rejoice and may yet be in great heaviness through manifold temptations.

> All adversities we face are trials of faith, patience, and constancy.

4. There is a fit between between you and the adversity God permits you to face, and the affliction will not stay longer that needs must.

Leaning on God in Adversity
1. Hebrews 6:10-13 - “For God is not unrighteous to forget or overlook your labor and the love which you have shown for His name's sake in ministering to the needs of the saints (His own consecrated people), as you still do. But we do [strongly and earnestly] desire for each of you to show the same diligence and sincerity [all the way through] in realising and enjoying the full assurance and development of [your] hope until the end, In order that you may not grow disinterested and become [spiritual] sluggards, but imitators, behaving as do those who through faith (by their leaning of the entire personality on God in Christ in absolute trust and confidence in His power, wisdom, and goodness) and by practice of patient endurance and waiting are [now] inheriting the promises.”

Relying on God’s Wisdom in Adversity
2. James 1:2-6- “My brethren, count it all joy when you fall into various trials, 3 knowing that the testing of your faith produces patience. 4 But let patience have its perfect work, that you may be perfect and complete, lacking nothing.

5 If any of you lacks wisdom, let him ask of God, who gives to all liberally and without reproach, and it will be given to him. 6 But let him ask in faith, with no doubting, for he who doubts is like a wave of the sea driven and tossed by the wind.“
