> Don’t waste your trials and temptations.
1 Peter 1:3-9 - “Blessed be the God and Father of our Lord Jesus Christ, which according to his abundant mercy has begotten us again unto a lively hope by the resurrection of Jesus Christ from the dead, to an inheritance incorruptible, and undefiled, and that fade not away, reserved in heaven for you, who are kept by the power of God through faith unto salvation ready to be revealed in the last time.”
6 Wherein you greatly rejoice, though now for a season, if need be, you are in heaviness through manifold temptations: 7 that the trial of your faith, being much more precious than of gold that perishes, though it be tried with fire, might be found unto praise and honour and glory at the appearing of Jesus Christ: whom having not seen, you love; in whom, though now you see him not, yet believing, you rejoice with joy unspeakable and full of glory: receiving the end of your faith, even the salvation of your souls.”
Verse 7 - “that the trial of your faith, being much more precious than of gold that perishes, though it be tried with fire, might be found unto praise and honour and glory at the appearing of Jesus Christ:”
1. The assignment of a believer’s affliction is the trial of his faith. This trial is much more precious than gold that perishes though it be tried with fire.
The effect of the trial is that your faith will be found unto praise, honour, and glory at the revelation of Jesus Christ.
- Your afflictions are designed for the trial of your faith
- The affliction is your probation not your destruction; your advantage, not your ruin, to prove the value and strength of your faith.
- Your Christian walk is predicated on your faith:
Hebrew 11:6 - Without faith, it is impossible to please God
Hebrews 11:3 - By faith we understand that the worlds were framed by the word of God, so that the things which are seen were not made of things which are visible.
- Christ prayed for Peter that his faith will not fail. “Satan has desired to have you that he may sift you as wheat, but I have prayed for you that your faith will not fail” (Luke 22:31–32)
Pray
1 Corinthians 10:13 GNT declares “…every test that you have experienced is the kind that normally comes to people. But God keeps his promise, and He will not allow you to be tested beyond your power to remain firm; at the time you are put to the test, He will give you the strength to endure it, and so provide you with a way out.” Lord, you are the Way, the Truth and the Life. Show me the Way out of my trials. IJN
2. A tried faith is much more precious than tried gold.
> Gold is the most valuable, pure, useful, and durable of all metals. Faith is the most valuable among the Christian virtues.
Matthew 8:23-26 - “Now when He got into a boat, His disciples followed Him. 24 And suddenly a great tempest arose on the sea, so that the boat was covered with the waves. But He was asleep. 25 Then His disciples came to Him and awoke Him, saying, “Lord, save us! We are perishing!”
26 But He said to them, “Why are you fearful, O you of little faith?” Then He arose and rebuked the winds and the sea, and there was a great calm.”
Pray Father, grant me the revelation of your intention as I go through this season of refinement of my faith. IJN
