Lord’s Prayer
Matthew 6:9-13 New KJV
9In this manner, therefore, pray:
Our Father in heaven,
Hallowed be Your name.
10Your kingdom come.
Your will be done
On earth as it is in heaven.
11Give us this day our daily bread.
12And forgive us our debts,
As we forgive our debtors.
13And do not lead us into temptation,
But deliver us from the evil one.
For Yours is the kingdom and the power and the glory forever. Amen.
1. Matthew 6:9 In this manner, therefore pray: Our Father in heaven, Hallowed be Your name.
-I love how Lord Jesus modelled how to pray, firstly as sons of God we should have reverential fear on God’s name because His name is holy and sacred over the earth for He is holy from a position of intimate relationship with the Father through the blood of Jesus. Establishing that He is holy and that His promises are yes and amen. We ought not to enter Gods presence with all our needs and request for He knows what are they anyways, He wants us worshipping Him. In declaring Hallowed be Your name, we are recognising the authority of God’s name for it is the very name that we take authority in spiritual battles and advances. In His name every knee bows and every tongue confess that He is Lord, even the darkness knows that His name is Holy.
1 Peter. 1:15 15 But as the One Who called you is holy, you yourselves also be holy in all your conduct and manner of living.
Psalms 110:4 Enter into his gates with thanksgiving, And into his courts with praise:
Be thankful unto him, and bless his name.
Philippians 2:9 Therefore God also has highly exalted Him and given Him the name which is above every name, 10that at the name of Jesus every knee should bow, of those in heaven, and of those on earth, and of those under the earth, 11and that every tongue should confess that Jesus Christ is Lord, to the glory of God the Father.
Prayer: Lets us Hallow the name of our Father in heaven, blessing His name for He is Holy, worthy to be praised, Abba Father, King of kings, Lord of lords, the One and is to come, Alpha and omega, the great IAM and the Lord of heavens and the earth.
2. Matthew 6:10 10 Your kingdom come. Your will be done On earth as it is in heaven.
-The kingdom of God has come already through Jesus’ life, ministry which was solidified by his death and resurrection, we are just declaring what had arrived already. The enemy will always propagate lies that the kingdom of God is not here by distorting every aspect of life, masking the world with sin and unholiness. But as Gods holy people in Christ we have the seal of authority that we can enforce the Kings truth which is of power, righteousness, salvation, holiness, faith, hope and love. Let us arrest every situation/manifestation that is not of God and enforce His will and truth. Jesus himself assured us that whatever we bind on earth is already bound in heaven.
Luke 17:20-21 20 Now when He was asked by the Pharisees when the kingdom of God would come, He answered them and said, “The kingdom of God does not come with observation; 21nor will they say, ‘See here!’ or ‘See there!’ For indeed, the kingdom of God is within you.”
Matthew 18:18 I assure you and most solemnly say to you, whatever you bind [forbid, declare to be improper and unlawful] on earth shall have [already]been bound in heaven, and whatever you loose [permit, declare lawful] on earth shall have [already] been loosed in heaven.
Prayer: Lets declare Gods will to be done here on earth for it is the reality that Jesus blood purchased. Let us declare salvation to the unsaved, healing to sick, restoration to the broken relationship, freedom to the captives of addiction, anxiety and sin, provision to those who lack, clarity to the confused, wisdom to the unwise, faith to the faithless and righteousness to the unrighteous. Let us enforced the truth that was signed by the blood of Jesus into the spiritual territories in our family, community, suburbs, city, government and country.
3. Matthew 6:11 Give us this day our daily bread.
- Jesus put us while praying for daily bread. Intercede for provision for people around our circle and people in need declaring that He is our Jehovah Jireh, that He is the provider and we are just stewards of His blessings. Praise God that we are in His economy that spells surrender/faith=provision unlike the rat race in these economic climate of the world that is constantly worrying about recession, interest rates, unemployment and rise of inflation. Lord Jesus continued in the same verse that we should not be worrying about our needs but rather trust Him to provide while we seek His Righteousness.
Matthew 6:33 But seek ye first the kingdom of God, and his righteousness; and all these things shall be added unto you.
Prayer: Let us pray for Gods provision each day to people that lack and in need. Let us declare His provision in our business and family not worrying about anything.
4. Matthew 6:12 12 And forgive us our debts, As we forgive our debtors.
-Us is present again even in the repentance and forgiveness. We can’t receive forgiveness if we have unforgiveness in our hearts. Forgiveness and repentance is a powerful spiritual weapon that God gave us for it brings Gods power a doorway to bring His restoration, healing and grace. As royal priest hood through Christ let us humble ourselves and repent from our short comings and the sins of our family and country as God said in
2 Chronicles 7:14 if my people, which are called by my name, shall humble themselves, and pray, and seek my face, and turn from their wicked ways; then will I hear from heaven, and will forgive their sin, and will heal their land.
Pray: Let us for forgiveness for our sins known or not known as we forgive people that offends us these weeks or last year. Let us humble our selves and ask for forgiveness for our family, friends, country for Gods to heal our land.
5. Matthew 6:13 13 And do not lead us into temptation, But deliver us from the evil one.
- God does not temp us to sin as written in James 1:13 but rather it came from our sinful fleshy desires and amplified by the enemy. Deliver us from the enemy that prowls around seeking some to devour rather let us be sober, resisting the enemy in faith and don’t let any sin or pride sit in.
1Peter 5:8 Be sober [well balanced and self-disciplined], be alert and cautious at all times. That enemy of yours, the devil, prowls around like a roaring lion [fiercely hungry], seeking someone to devour.
James 1:13 Let no one say when he is tempted, “I am being tempted by God” [for temptation does not originate from God, but from our own flaws]; for God cannot be tempted by [what is] evil, and He Himself tempts no one

No temptation [regardless of its source] has overtaken or enticed you that is not common to human experience [nor is any temptation unusual or beyond human resistance]; but God is faithful [to His word—He is compassionate and trustworthy], and He will not let you be tempted beyond your ability [to resist], but along with the temptation He [has in the past and is now and] will [always] provide the way out as well, so that you will be able to endure it [without yielding, and will overcome temptation with joy].
Pray: Let us pray we will have a strong faith to resist the enemy and discern his tactics of deceit. Let us pray that our inner man will be far stronger in Jesus than our flesh daily.
Hebrews 12:1 1Therefore, since we are surrounded by so great a cloud of witnesses [who by faith have testified to the truth of God’s absolute faithfulness], stripping off every unnecessary weight and the sin which so easily and cleverly entangles us, let us run with endurance and active persistence the race that is set before us
6. Matthew 6:13 For Yours is the kingdom and the power and the glory forever. Amen.
Pray: Finally let’s rejoice and declare His glory, power and kingdom that reigns forever. Declaring His victory and dominion in heaven, earth and under the earth.
