Topic: POWER BEFORE GLORY

Content:

Psalms 63:1-2 O God, You are my God; Early will I seek You; My soul thirsts for You; My flesh longs for You In a dry and thirsty land Where there is no water. So I have looked for You in the sanctuary, *To see Your power and Your glory*.

Physics defines energy as the ability to do work. However, the ability to do work is not an end in itself, hence the concept of power, which is the rate at which work is done. Water sitting in a dam is useless until it is released to turn turbines that give us electricity. Your fuel in the car is money tied down until the fuel is ignited to run the engine, enabling the vehicle to move us from place to place. How fat your bank account is does not matter; it is what you spend out of it that matters.
David understood the close relationship between energy and power and would take the necessary steps to unleash the power in energy. Let's examine the steps David took to release God's glory and overcome the 3Ds—distress, debt, and discontentment.

1. David looked for God in His sanctuary.
David defaults to God when in a 3D situation. Psalms 119:105, which says - Your word is a lamp to my feet And a light to my path describes David's modus operandi leading to his overcoming. He would want to hear from God before acting only when he doesn't understand God's truth about the situation. Remember, David didn't need to spend time confronting Goliath because he understood God's truth concerning the uncircumcised Philistines. But when it comes to fighting and harming the anointed of God (re Saul), David lacked God's revelation on what to do, considering the imminent danger he was in. David was confused, afraid, and distressed about the situation. David's Overwhelming revelation about the situation was perhaps Psalms 105:15, which says, "Do not touch My anointed ones, And do My prophets no harm."

2. David was intentional about unleashing God's power.
There is a difference between real and apparent power. Real power produces works that can be seen while apparent power is latent. David, in Ps 63: 1-2, was determined to see God's power. We have the latent power of God already in us but it takes our faith to unleash God's power residing in us for it to be effective over our situations. To reassure you of God's power (energy) in you, let's see the following scriptures:
- Acts 1:8 But you shall receive power when the Holy Spirit has come upon you; and you shall be witnesses to Me in Jerusalem, and in all Judea and Samaria, and to the end of the earth.
- LUK.10.19 Behold, I give you the authority to trample on serpents and scorpions, and over all the power of the enemy, and nothing shall by any means hurt you.
- I Corinthians 2:4-5 And my speech and my preaching were not with persuasive words of human wisdom, but in demonstration of the Spirit and of power, that your faith should not be in the wisdom of men but in the power of God.

3. David understood that God's glory was the end game.
II Timothy 3:5 having a form of godliness but denying its power. And from such people turn away!
Let's be intentional in releasing God's glory over our lives. For as long as that situation remains, God's glory is still latent in you. It is our moment to arise and shine for God's light is come and the glory of God is risen upon you. Let's flick the switch on in the next few minutes and make our prayers effective by converting God's energy in us to real power. James 5:16 Confess your trespasses to one another, and pray for one another, that you may be healed. The effective, fervent prayer of a righteous man avails much.

James 5:16 (AMPC)
Confess to one another therefore your faults (your slips, your false steps, your offenses, your sins) and pray [also] for one another, that you may be healed and restored [to a spiritual tone of mind and heart]. The earnest (heartfelt, continued) prayer of a righteous man makes tremendous power available [dynamic in its working].
