*Romans 4:16-22*

The passage describes Abraham's faith as an example of the kind of faith that leads to answered prayer and fulfilled promises from God. Some key principles we can draw from this:

*1. Faith rooted in God's grace, not human effort (v.16)*
Abraham's faith was based on God's gracious promise, not his own ability to fulfill it. Our prayers should likewise be rooted in confidence in God's grace, not our own merit or works.

*2. Faith in God's power to do the impossible (v.17-19)*
Abraham believed God could give life to the dead and call things into existence. He faced the reality of his and Sarah's inability to have children, yet still believed God could do it. We must pray with faith in God's unlimited power, even when circumstances seem impossible.

*3. Faith that grows stronger through testing (v.20)*
Abraham's faith grew stronger as he faced the test of waiting for the promise. Our faith and prayers can be strengthened through perseverance in difficult circumstances.

*4. Faith that gives glory to God (v.20)*
Abraham's faith led him to give glory to God. Our prayers should be offered for God's glory, not selfish motives.

*5. Faith fully convinced of God's ability to fulfill His promises (v.21)*
Abraham was "fully convinced that God was able to do what he had promised." We must pray with full conviction in God's faithfulness and ability.

*6. Faith that leads to righteousness (v.22)*
Abraham's faith was "credited to him as righteousness." True faith that pleases God will be accompanied by righteous living.

In summary, answered prayer flows from a faith that is grace-based, God-centered, growing through trials, focused on God's glory, fully convinced of His power and promises, and evidenced by righteous living. As we cultivate this kind of faith, we can expect God to powerfully answer our prayers according to His will.
