“ The King's Ambassadors" - Reflecting the Father's Image

2 Corinthians 3:18 NLT
So all of us who have had that veil removed can see and reflect the glory of the Lord. And the Lord-who is the Spirit-makes us more and more like him as we are changed into his glorious image.

Imagine a king, sending ambassadors to represent his kingdom in a foreign land. He entrusts them with his authority, expecting them to conduct themselves with dignity, wisdom, and integrity. But what if the ambassadors fail to represent the king's character, instead indulging in selfish pursuits and tarnishing the kingdom's reputation?

As men, we're like those ambassadors, called to represent Christ's kingdom in our families, communities, and world. We're entrusted with His authority, and expected to reflect His image in all we do. But when we fail to represent Him well, we risk misrepresenting the King and His kingdom. What does it mean for us as men to function as ambassadors for Christ?

Today, we'll explore what it means to reflect the image of Christ, and how we can walk in His authority, so that we can faithfully represent our King and bring glory to His name.

 Reflecting the Father's Image

When Moses came down Mount Sinai with the Ten Commandments, his face was radiant from being in God’s presence. Moses had to put on a veil to keep the people from being terrified by the brightness of his face. There ought to be a transformation in our lives because of the time we spend in the secret place seeking the Lord. As we spend time seeking Him, our lives begin to reflect His image.

Exodus 34:29-30,35 NLT
When Moses came down Mount Sinai carrying the two stone tablets inscribed with the terms of the covenant, he wasn't aware that his face had become radiant because he had spoken to the LORD. [30] So when Aaron and the people of Israel saw the radiance of Moses' face, they were afraid to come near him. [35] and the people of Israel would see the radiant glow of his face. So he would put the veil over his face until he returned to speak with the LORD.

Through Christ, believers are being restored to that original image, reflecting God's likeness in their thoughts, words, and actions. As ambassadors for Christ, we have the privilege of representing Him and His kingdom on earth. We are not just representatives; we are extensions of Christ Himself!

2 Corinthians 5:20 NLT
So we are Christ's ambassadors; God is making his appeal through us. We speak for Christ when we plead, "Come back to God!"

As ambassadors for Christ, we represent Him and His kingdom by walking in His authority and reflecting His image. This involves:

1. Living with integrity and righteousness and representing His character:

As followers of Christ, we are called to reflect His image in our lives. This means embracing His character, values, and living a lifestyle of integrity

Believers are encouraged to put on or clothe themselves with the new nature, which is characterized by righteousness, holiness, and humility. (Colossians 3:10 NLT Put on your new nature and be renewed as you learn to know your Creator and become like him. )

Psalms 101:2 AMP
I will behave wisely and follow the way of integrity. When will You come to me? I will walk in my house in integrity and with a blameless heart.

1 Peter 3:16 NLT
But do this in a gentle and respectful way. Keep your conscience clear. Then if people speak against you, they will be ashamed when they see what a good life you live because you belong to Christ.

2. Exercising spiritual authority and demonstrating His power:

Matthew 28:18-19 NLT
Jesus came and told his disciples, "I have been given all authority in heaven and on earth. [19] Therefore, go and make disciples of all the nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father and the Son and the Holy Spirit.

1 Corinthians 2:4 NIV
My message and my preaching were not with wise and persuasive words, but with a demonstration of the Spirit’s power,

3. Being a light in the darkness:

Matthew 5:14-16 NLT
"You are the light of the world-like a city on a hilltop that cannot be hidden. [15] No one lights a lamp and then puts it under a basket. Instead, a lamp is placed on a stand, where it gives light to everyone in the house. [16] In the same way, let your good deeds shine out for all to see, so that everyone will praise your heavenly Father.

4. Being His witnesses and spreading the Gospel:

Acts 1:8 NLT
But you will receive power when the Holy Spirit comes upon you. And you will be my witnesses, telling people about me everywhere-in Jerusalem, throughout Judea, in Samaria, and to the ends of the earth."

Mark 16:15 AMP
And He said to them, “Go into all the world and preach the gospel to all creation.

5. Demonstrating His love and grace:

Colossians 3:12 NIV Therefore, as God’s chosen people, holy and dearly loved, clothe yourselves with compassion, kindness, humility, gentleness and patience.

6. Leading with humility and servant-leadership:

Mark 9:35 NLT
He sat down, called the twelve disciples over to him, and said, "Whoever wants to be first must take last place and be the servant of everyone else."

Matthew 20:26-28 NLT
But among you it will be different. Whoever wants to be a leader among you must be your servant, [27] and whoever wants to be first among you must become your slave. [28] For even the Son of Man came not to be served but to serve others and to give his life as a ransom for many."

7. Being conformed to His likeness and reflecting His image:

Genesis 1:27 ESV
So God created man in his own image, in the image of God he created him; male and female he created them.

Romans 8:29 ESV
[For those whom he foreknew he also predestined to be conformed to the image of his Son, in order that he might be the firstborn among many brothers.

8. Bringing the reality of Gods kingdom to our world:

 Matthew 6:9-10 NKJV
[9] In this manner, therefore, pray: Our Father in heaven, Hallowed be Your name. [10] Your kingdom come. Your will be done On earth as it is in heaven.

Bringing the reality of God's kingdom to our world means demonstrating the power, love, and values of God's kingdom in our daily lives, relationships, and communities. It involves exercising the authority Christ has given us to: manifest God's presence and power and demonstrate His love and compassion to those around us.

As ambassadors, we must walk in humility, recognizing His sovereignty, and reflecting His image in all aspects of our lives. Remember, our authority is not based on our own strength or abilities, but on our identity in Christ and our dependence on Him.

 Transformation by the Spirit

As believers, we're called to become more like Christ, but we can't do it on our own. That's where the Holy Spirit comes in. The Holy Spirit is the agent of transformation in our lives. He takes the glory of God and applies it to our hearts, transforming us from the inside out.

Jesus depended on the continual flow of the Holy Spirit’s power, wisdom, counsel, and ability through Him and upon Him during His earthly ministry. We must therefore depend on the Spirit's power and guidance to become more like Christ. And as He is, so are we to be in this world (1 John 4:17).

Depending on the Spirit's power and guidance, we can bear fruit: We can manifest love, joy, peace, and other qualities that reflect Christ's character.
Galatians 5:22 NLT But the Holy Spirit produces this kind of fruit in our lives: love, joy, peace, patience, kindness, goodness, faithfulness,

 Conclusion :

Reflecting  the image of Christ and walking in His authority as His ambassadors is a lifelong journey, and we are constantly being refined and perfected. Let us embrace this calling and reflect His love, character, and glory to a world in need.

Let us seek to emulate Christ's character and values in our daily life, exercise the authority Christ has given us and ask the Holy Spirit to guide and transform us.
