Let Them Have Dominion

 

1. Genesis 1:1-3, 26 - “In the beginning God created the heavens and the earth. 2 The earth was without form, and void; and darkness was on the face of the deep. And the Spirit of God was hovering over the face of the waters. 3 Then God said, “Let there be light”; and there was light. 

 

26 Then God said, “Let Us make man in Our image, according to Our likeness; let them have dominion over the fish of the sea, over the birds of the air, and over the cattle, over all the earth and over every creeping thing that creeps on the earth.”

 

Understanding of our image, function and purpose (according to Genesis 1:26) is very vital in truly living to the potential of our design. 

 

> While form may determine function; purpose also determines function.

 

2. When God created Man, He knew Satan was aware of His design and purpose for Man.

 

3. God permitted Satan to have access to Eve in the garden of Eden.

 

4. Genesis 3:1-5 - Satan deceived and tempted Eve, which led to Eve’s disobedience of God’s Word and His will. Eve was encouraged to disobey God’s instructions.

 

Prayer 

James 4:7 - “Therefore submit to God. Resist the devil and he will flee from you.”

 

5. Satan was bent on ensuring God’s purposes were derailed.

 

6. God sent His Son, Jesus Christ, to die that Man may be restored to his place in and with God.

 

To have dominion, it is vitally important we understand the need for acknowledgment and total dependence on (submission to) God, our Father; the communion with the Holy Spirit; the place of the revealed and spoken Word in our life; our identity in Christ, our function in the Kingdom; and our purpose - to have have dominion.

 

Prayer 

Ephesians 1:19-21 - “and what is the exceeding greatness of His power toward us who believe, according to the working of His mighty power 20 which He worked in Christ when He raised Him from the dead and seated Him at His right hand in the heavenly places, 21 far above all principality and power and might and dominion, and every name that is named, not only in this age but also in that which is to come.”

 

Ephesians 2:4-7 - “But God, who is rich in mercy, because of His great love with which He loved us, 5 even when we were dead in trespasses, made us alive together with Christ (by grace you have been saved), 6 and raised us up together, and made us sit together in the heavenly places in Christ Jesus, 7 that in the ages to come He might show the exceeding riches of His grace in His kindness toward us in Christ Jesus.”
