Topic: INTIMACY WITH GOD PART III

Content:

Intimacy with God requires wholehearted devotion

Wholehearted devotion is the key to intimacy with God. As we surrender our hearts, souls, minds, and strength to Him, we experience the depth of His love and presence.

Just as a loving spouse desires exclusivity and intimacy, God desires our undivided attention and affection.

Here are some key aspects that define what wholehearted looks like:

- Unreserved commitment: Holding nothing back, surrendering all to God.

- Single-minded focus: Prioritizing God above everything else.

- Passionate pursuit: Eagerly seeking God's presence and guidance.

-Unwavering loyalty: Standing firm in faith, through trials and triumphs.

 Scriptural references

Deuteronomy 6:5, Matthew 22:37 - "Love the Lord your God with all your heart, soul, mind, and strength."

Psalm 42:1-2 - "As the deer pants for streams of water, so my soul pants for You, O God."

Practical Steps:

1. Set aside quality time for prayer and meditation.
2. Study and reflect on Scripture.
3. Worship with sincerity and passion.
4. Obey God's commands and guidance.

Reflection Questions:

1. What areas of my life require greater surrender to God?
2. How can I prioritize quality time with God?
3. What distractions or barriers hinder my intimacy with God?
4. Are there areas in my life that I am not walking in obedience to God's commands and guidance?

 Prayer

Lord Jesus, You said, 'Love the Lord your God with all your heart, soul, mind, and strength.' (Matthew 22:37)

Help me to love You with every part of me. May my love for You be:
-Sincere, not superficial
-Total, not partial
-Constant, not sporadic
-Transforming, not stagnant.

By Your Spirit, empower me to love You with every fiber of my being.

 Intimacy with God births revival

Revival is God revealing Himself.
Throughout the chronicles of history, this has always been God's desire to reveal Himself to us.

Isaiah 65:1 NIV
“I revealed myself to those who did not ask for me; I was found by those who did not seek me. To a nation that did not call on my name, I said, ‘Here am I, here am I.’

Revival is a spiritual awakening or renewal that brings individuals, communities, or nations back to a vibrant and intimate relationship with God. It's characterized by:

1. Renewed passion for God
2. Increased hunger for spiritual growth
3. Repentance and confession of sin
4. Revitalized faith and commitment
5. Outpouring of the Holy Spirit
6. Transformation of lives and communities

In 1940, Professor J. Edwin Orr of Wheaton University in USA led a group of theology students to England, where they visited sites of great revivals. One of their stops was a Methodist museum, but it was formerly the home of John Wesley, the famous reformer who led a wave of spiritual renewal in the 1700s and founded the Methodist movement.

As a man of prayer, Wesley interceded for revival to sweep through England and spread to America.

Dr. Orr pointed out two worn places on the carpet next to John Wesley’s bed, where Wesley knelt for hours in prayer each day, crying out for revival. And, as history tells us, that’s exactly what happened. Heaven broke in and revival broke out.

As the tour concluded, the students boarded the bus. After counting them, Dr. Orr noticed one was missing. He returned to the house, and eventually located the lost student in John Wesley’s bedroom – kneeling on the worn impressions where Wesley had fervently prayed for revival. The student was repeatedly pleading, “Do it again, Lord! Do it again… And would you do it again with me.”

Placing his hand on the young man’s shoulder Dr. Orr said, “Son, it’s time to leave. Everyone’s on the bus.” The student slowly rose and joined the rest of his class. That young man's name was Billy Graham…God did it again..

Because of Billy Grahams intimate relationship with God, over 210 million people have heard Billy Graham preach the Gospel in person or through media.
More than 3.2 million people have
made commitments to Christ through Billy Graham's crusades and ministries.

 Prayer

Personal Revival Prayer

Lord, ignite a burning desire for
intimacy with You in my heart.
Revive me, and let Your presence
be my greatest delight.
Draw me close to Your heart, that I may experience
the depth of Your love and be
transformed by Your presence.'
Holy Spirit, awaken my soul to the
reality of God's presence. Revive
my spirit, and let Your fire burn
within me.

Revival prayer for our community

"Heavenly Father, pour out Your Spirit upon our communities, that we may experience a great revival. May we become catalysts for revival in our families and community.

Intimacy with God is demonstrated through obedience

Intimacy with God is deeply connected
to obedience. When we obey God, we demonstrate our love, trust, and
surrender to Him. Jesus said in John 14:15 NKJV “If you love Me, keep My commandments. "

Love leads to obedience. Genuine love for Jesus motivates us to obey Him. Obedience deepens our intimacy
with Jesus, fostering a stronger
relationship.

 Prayer

"Lord, I desire to know You deeply
Help me obey Your voice, that our
intimacy may grow. Reveal areas of
disobedience in my life. Give me
courage to surrender and follow Your will. Holy Spirit, empower me to walk in obedience, that I may experience the joy of intimacy with
God."

Intimacy with God empowers us to experience  the supernatural

Intimacy with God is like plugging an appliance into an electrical outlet.

The Outlet (God)

- Represents God's power and presence
- Holds the potential for supernatural energy
- Remains constant and available

The Appliance (Us)

- Represents our lives and hearts
- Designed to function with supernatural power
- Requires connection to the outlet (intimacy with God)

Plugging In (Intimacy)

- As we draw near to God (James 4:8), we plug into His power
- Intimacy fosters a deepening connection, allowing God's supernatural energy to flow
- Our hearts and lives become receptive to His guidance and empowerment

Supernatural Power Flows

- Healing, prophetic insight, miracles, and spiritual gifts begin to manifest
- God's presence transforms our thoughts, emotions, and actions
- We become conduits for His supernatural work in the world

Scriptural references

 Abiding
John 15:5 NLT
"Yes, I am the vine; you are the branches. Those who remain in me, and I in them, will produce much fruit. For apart from me you can do nothing.

 Spiritual revelations
1 Corinthians 2:9-10 NLT That is what the Scriptures mean when they say, "No eye has seen, no ear has heard, and no mind has imagined what God has prepared for those who love him." [10] But it was to us that God revealed these things by his Spirit. For his Spirit searches out everything and shows us God's deep secrets.

 Empowered by the Holy Spirit
Acts 1:8 NLT But you will receive power when the Holy Spirit comes upon you. And you will be my witnesses, telling people about me everywhere-in Jerusalem, throughout Judea, in Samaria, and to the ends of the earth."

Reflection Questions

1. How can I deepen my intimacy with God?
2. What supernatural experiences have I had through intimacy with God?
3. How can I remain "plugged in" to God's power?

"Intimacy with God in prayer is the
key to experiencing His presence
and power."- Bill Johnson
