The Jacob Principle
Wait on God Like Jacob (Genesis 32:24-30)
Waiting on God is not passive; it is an active, contending pursuit. Jacob’s story exemplifies this as God wrestled with him, seeking a transformation and a divine blessing that would define his destiny. Waiting involves contending for God’s grace, wisdom, and clarity about His will, knowing that we require divine insight and strategies for victorious living. This posture of waiting aligns us with His purpose, equipping us with wisdom and strengthening our spirit.
> Every believer require divine insight into God’s will and strategies for victorious living.
What Are We Contending For While Waiting?
1. Grace and Divine Insight
- Humility in Knowledge (1 Corinthians 8:2): God desires that we pursue knowledge humbly, acknowledging that we never fully know as we ought. This humility allows us to approach Him for deeper revelation.
- Insight into Divine Mysteries (Ephesians 3:3-5): Paul reminds us that the mysteries of Christ are unveiled by divine revelation, not by human intellect. Waiting on God gives us the insight we need to walk in His purpose.
- Spiritual Illumination (Ephesians 1:17-21): We contend for a spirit of wisdom and revelation so that our spiritual eyes may be enlightened, empowering us to perceive the depths of Christ’s love and purpose.
2. Discernment and Spiritual Warfare Preparedness
- Abounding in Love and Discernment (Philippians 1:9): As we wait on God, we pray for love that abounds in knowledge and discernment, helping us navigate complex spiritual and relational landscapes.
- Prepared for Warfare (Ephesians 6:12): Our struggle is spiritual; we contend with forces beyond the physical. Waiting on God builds our discernment and equips us with wisdom for spiritual warfare.
3. Renewal of Power and Strength
- Renewal Through Waiting (Isaiah 40:31): God promises renewal for those who wait on Him. We progress in strength and spiritual acceleration, advancing from walking to running to soaring, empowered by His Spirit.
- Capacity for Growth and Favour (Luke 2:52): Waiting on God increases our spiritual, mental, and emotional capacity, making us vessels for wisdom, maturity, and divine favour.
