I Peter 1:23-25 having been born again, not of corruptible seed but incorruptible, through the word of God which lives and abides forever, because “All flesh is as grass, And all the glory of man as the flower of the grass. The grass withers, And its flower falls away, But the word of the Lord endures forever.” Now this is the word which by the gospel was preached to you.
Hebrews 4:12 For the word of God is living and powerful, and sharper than any two-edged sword, piercing even to the division of soul and spirit, and of joints and marrow, and is a discerner of the thoughts and intents of the heart.
Mat 4:4 Jesus answered, It is written: ‘Man shall not live on bread alone, but on every word that comes from the mouth of God.
We note that Jesus did not say we should live without bread (food), which is an essential of life, but what He says we should not live without is His word. "Man shall not live by bread alone" suggests bread (food) should go with something. Recall that Jesus Christ was fasting, which is the context this scripture was used. I don't think Jesus was being figuratively speaking about bread or food here. I am sure Jesus meant bread should not be taken in isolation from God's Word. Jesus was saying to the devil He doesn't eat without putting God's word first. If God's word tells Him to prioritize fasting over bread or food, then so be it. If God tells Him it is time for food, then he will eat to your satisfaction.
As little as we may consider the decision to eat or not to eat, we could see the importance Jesus placed on God's word governing even the basics of life. His word is what God would want us to include in all we do and in our decisions, no matter how small or big. It is our building block. Hence the continued emphasis on the supremacy of His word.
Job 23:12 I have not departed from the commandment of His lips; I have treasured the words of His mouth More than my necessary food.'
Act 20:32 So now, brethren, I commend you to God and to the word of His grace, which is able to build you up and give you an inheritance among all those who are sanctified.
If you stick to the word, you'll come back with a testimony. What God wants to give you in your life is not healing; what God wants to give you in your life is not a job; what God wants to give you in your life is not money. What God wants to give you is the word of God in your spirit. It'll make you what it talks about.
