Romans 12:1-2 - “I beseech you therefore, brethren, by the mercies of God, that you present your bodies a living sacrifice, holy, acceptable to God, which is your reasonable service. And do not be conformed to this world, but be transformed by the renewing of your mind, that you may prove what is that good and acceptable and perfect will of God.”
Acts 5:31 - ‘Him [Jesus Christ] God has exalted to His right hand to be Prince and Saviour, to give repentance to Israel and forgiveness of sins.’
Dimensions of the Gospel of Christ (Matthew 4:17)
1. Gospel of Salvation – Paralleled to Israel’s deliverance from Egypt, it signifies liberation from sin and bondage.
2. Gospel of the Kingdom
- Enlightenment through divine instructions: Israel’s access to the Law and God’s commandments.
- Empowerment for Dominion: This symbolises spiritual authority and victory, reflecting Israel’s empowerment to conquer and inhabit the Promised Land.
The State of a Believer Without a Renewed Mind
Psalm 82:5-7 - “They do not know, nor do they understand; they walk about in darkness; all the foundations of the earth are unstable. I said, ‘You are gods, and all of you are children of the Most High. But you shall die like men, and fall like one of the princes.’”
Symptoms and Antidotes
1. Ignorance: "They do not know..."
- Effect: Spiritual blindness and separation from God's purposes.
- Antidote: Pursue divine knowledge. Isaiah 60:1: "Arise, shine; for your light has come!”
2. Lack of Comprehension: "...nor do they understand."
- Effect: Stagnation and confusion, leading to spiritual and physical instability.
- Antidote: Pray for spiritual enlightenment. Ephesians 1:18: "That the eyes of your understanding may be enlightened…"
3. Effects of Ignorance and Lack of Comprehension:
- Spiritual Blindness: "...they walk about in darkness." [Genesis 1:2; Romans 13:11-13]
- Instability: "...the foundations of the earth are unstable." [James 1:6-8]
- Mortality and Defeat [Failure]: "You shall die like men, and fall like one of the princes."
