TRANSFORMED MIND FOR TERRITORIAL TRANSFORMATION Part VI

The Manifest Presence in the Church

Scriptural Foundation
Romans 12:1-2 - ‘I beseech you therefore, brethren, by the mercies of God, that you present your bodies a living sacrifice, holy, acceptable to God, which is your reasonable service. And do not be conformed to this world, but be transformed by the renewing of your mind, that you may prove what is that good and acceptable and perfect will of God.’

Defining the Manifest Presence
The manifest presence of God refers to tangible, experiential encounters with His glory. It is more than an abstract awareness; it is the unmistakable revelation of God's power and holiness in ways that influence individuals, communities, and nations.

Key Insights:
1. ”We cannot attain the presence of God. We’re already totally in the presence of God. What’s missing is awareness [consciousness]." – David G. Brenner
2. ”Never let the presence of a storm cause you to doubt the presence of God." – Craig Groeschel
3. ”If God's presence is in the church, the church will draw the world in. If God's presence is not in the church, the world will draw the church out." – Charles Finney

> When the church carries the manifest presence of God, the result is spiritual awakening, cultural transformation, and territorial revival.

Biblical Examples of Territorial Transformation
1. The Transformation of Mount Sinai
Exodus 19:18 - ‘Now Mount Sinai was completely in smoke because the Lord descended upon it in fire. Its smoke ascended like the smoke of a furnace, and the whole mountain quaked greatly.’

- Physical Manifestation: Smoke, fire, and an earthquake visibly demonstrated the majesty and power of God.
- Spiritual Impact: The covenant between God and Israel was established. God's laws were delivered, providing the foundation for holy living.

Application: God's manifest presence calls for reverence and obedience, creating a covenantal relationship that shapes communities for His purposes.

2. Elijah Brings Fire Down to Heal the Land
1 Kings 18:38-39 - ‘Then the fire of the Lord fell and consumed the burnt sacrifice, and the wood and the stones and the dust, and it licked up the water that was in the trench. Now when all the people saw it, they fell on their faces; and they said, ‘The Lord, He is God! The Lord, He is God!’’

- Physical Manifestation: Fire from heaven consumed the offering, even amidst the soaked altar.
- Social and Spiritual Transformation:
a. Israel repented, turning from idolatry and renouncing Baal worship.
b. The nation publicly reaffirmed allegiance to the Lord.

Application: God’s manifest presence restores righteousness in the land, tearing down spiritual strongholds and unifying people under His sovereignty.

3. The Day of Pentecost
Acts 2:2-4 - ‘And suddenly there came a sound from heaven, as of a rushing mighty wind, and it filled the whole house where they were sitting. Then there appeared to them divided tongues, as of fire, and one sat upon each of them. And they were all filled with the Holy Spirit and began to speak with other tongues, as the Spirit gave them utterance.’

- Physical Manifestation: Wind and tongues of fire symbolised the outpouring of the Holy Spirit.
- Social and Spiritual Transformation:
a. The spiritual climate of Jerusalem was revolutionised.
b. Thousands repented, believed, and were filled with the Holy Spirit (Acts 2:41).
c. The church was birthed, becoming the epicentre of a global Gospel movement.

Application: When God’s Spirit descends, individuals are empowered for ministry, and entire cities and nations experience divine renewal.

The Impact of God’s Manifest Presence
When the manifest presence of God is revealed, the following outcomes are often observed:
1. Repentance: Hearts turn back to God, forsaking sin and idolatry.
2. Revival: A spiritual awakening takes root, bringing life to dormant faith communities.
3. Restoration: Social, cultural, and physical environments are renewed.
4. Alignment with Divine Purpose: Regions embrace God’s will, becoming platforms for His Kingdom agenda.
