TRANSFORMED MIND FOR TERRITORIAL TRANSFORMATION – Part XXIII : THE TRANSFORMED LEADER
Content:
Romans 12:1-2
"I beseech you therefore, brethren, by the mercies of God, that you present your bodies a living sacrifice, holy, acceptable to God, which is your reasonable service. And do not be conformed to this world, but be transformed by the renewing of your mind, that you may prove what is that good and acceptable and perfect will of God."
Philippians 2:5-11
"Let this mind be in you which was also in Christ Jesus, who, being in the form of God, did not consider it robbery to be equal with God, but made Himself of no reputation, taking the form of a bondservant, and coming in the likeness of men. And being found in appearance as a man, He humbled Himself and became obedient to the point of death, even the death of the cross. Therefore God also has highly exalted Him and given Him the name which is above every name."
The Leadership Mindset for Transformation
Every leader who seeks to influence and transform their environment must first experience personal transformation. The renewal of the mind (Romans 12:2) is the foundation of sustainable leadership, shaping character, decision-making, and impact. The leadership mindset modeled by Christ in Philippians 2:5-11 presents three key principles for transformational leadership:
1. A Leader with Discipline and Conviction
Effective leadership requires an unshakable commitment to personal values and vision. A leader who transforms territories must first master self-leadership.
- Daniel demonstrated unwavering discipline by refusing to compromise his convictions, choosing holiness over convenience (Daniel 1:8).
- Joseph upheld his integrity in the face of temptation, prioritising purpose over momentary pleasure (Genesis 39:8-9).
Great leaders establish non-negotiable standards that align with their purpose and calling.
2. A Leader with Humility and Servanthood
Leadership is not about self-promotion but about service. Christ, though divine, made Himself of no reputation (Philippians 2:7). True leaders:
- Lead by example rather than position.
- Serve before they seek to be served.
- Prioritize collective success over personal gain.
The most influential leaders are those who empower others rather than demand recognition.
3. A Leader with Radical Obedience and Sacrifice
Leadership requires courageous obedience—even when it demands personal cost. Jesus, the ultimate leader, was obedient to the point of death (Philippians 2:8). Transformational leaders:
- Make hard but necessary decisions for the greater good.
- Stay committed even when the journey is painful.
- Understand that true success often requires sacrifice.
To lead transformation, you must first embrace the cost of leadership.
