 Stepping into gates

1.       Pre-sermon declarations

          Greetings

Psalms 118:24: This is the day the Lord has made; We will rejoice and be glad in it.

2.       Introduction

-          I will talk about gates and stepping into gates and new dimensions and territories.

-          Definition of a gate – a gate provides access to a place that is excluded for anyone’s access. You can only have access if you are known or have keys to that particular gate.

Examples:

-          Your car, house you have the keys.

-          In certain jurisdictions you must have an invitation. Example you require a passport or visa to travel to another country.

-          Education, experience also provides access to certain gates.

-          However, access to certain gate doesn’t mean you finished the job. Just like when you have a house or car you need fuel, service and most importantly operate the car within the stipulated rules and regulations. You can’t overspeed, drive a broken car or park at the wrong place. Tickets and fines are real and at some point you will be disqualified.

3.       Spiritually, Gates often symbolize points of access, control, and transition, representing both physical and metaphysical dimensions.

-          For all the gates you need to open in your life (ministry, family, full potential) you need God in all the dimensions: (The Father, The son, (The word) and the Holy spirit from a point of intimacy and revelation).

4.       Fire scriptures:

John 10:7 (salvation)

Therefore Jesus said again, “Very truly I tell you, I am the gate for the sheep. All who have come before me are thieves and robbers, but the sheep have not listened to them. I am the gate; whoever enters through me will be saved.[a] They will come in and go out, and find pasture. 10 The thief comes only to steal and kill and destroy; I have come that they may have life, and have it to the full.

Mathew 4:1-11 (The word)

Then was Jesus led up by the Spirit into the wilderness to be tempted by the devil.

And when He had fasted forty days and forty nights, He afterward hungered.

And when the tempter came to Him, he said, “If Thou be the Son of God, command that these stones be made bread.”

But He answered and said, “It is written: ‘Man shall not live by bread alone, but by every word that proceedeth out of the mouth of God.’”

Then the devil took Him up into the holy city, and set Him on a pinnacle of the temple, and

said unto Him, “If Thou be the Son of God, cast Thyself down. For it is written: ‘He shall give His angels charge concerning thee; and in their hands they shall bear thee up, lest at any time thou dash thy foot against a stone.’”

Jesus said unto him, “It is written again: ‘Thou shalt not tempt the Lord thy God.’”

Again, the devil took Him up onto an exceeding high mountain, and showed Him all the kingdoms of the world and the glory of them,

and said unto Him, “All these things will I give Thee if Thou wilt fall down and worship me.”

10 Then said Jesus unto him, “Get thee hence, Satan! For it is written: ‘Thou shalt worship the Lord thy God, and Him only shalt thou serve.’”

11 Then the devil left Him, and behold, angels came and ministered unto Him.

John 16: 12 – 14 - 12 (The holy spirit)

“I still have many things to say to you, but you cannot bear them now. 13 However, when He, the Spirit of truth, has come, He will guide you into all truth; for He will not speak on His own authority, but whatever He hears He will speak; and He will tell you things to come. 14 He will glorify Me, for He will take of what is Mine and declare it to you.

1 Corinthians 12 (Gifts of the Holy Spirit)

12 Brothers and sisters, I want you to know about the gifts of the Holy Spirit. You know that at one time you were unbelievers. You were somehow drawn away to worship statues of gods that couldn’t even speak. So I want you to know that no one who is speaking with the help of God’s Spirit says, “May Jesus be cursed.” And without the help of the Holy Spirit no one can say, “Jesus is Lord.”

There are different kinds of gifts. But they are all given to believers by the same Spirit. There are different ways to serve. But they all come from the same Lord. There are different ways the Spirit works. But the same God is working in all these ways and in all people.

The Holy Spirit is given to each of us in a special way. That is for the good of all. To some people the Spirit gives a message of wisdom. To others the same Spirit gives a message of knowledge. To others the same Spirit gives faith. To others that one Spirit gives gifts of healing. 10 To others he gives the power to do miracles. To others he gives the ability to prophesy. To others he gives the ability to tell the spirits apart. To others he gives the ability to speak in different kinds of languages they had not known before. And to still others he gives the ability to explain what was said in those languages. 11 All the gifts are produced by one and the same Spirit. He gives gifts to each person, just as he decides.

5.       How do I unlock the gate ahead of me or the closed doors that need to open?

a)       Open you heart to God

-          Open the gates of your heart to Jesus, inviting His love, grace, and justice into your life (John 6:35). This sustains you spiritually and allows you to thrive

b)      Prayer and Worship

-          Strengthen your prayer gateway by cultivating intimacy with God. Pray for alignment with His will and for prophetic insight to enforce His purpose in your life.

c)       Engage in heartfelt worship to open the gateway of praise and thanksgiving. This invites God's presence and glory into your life (Psalm 100:4)

d)      Fasting and spiritual disciplines

-          Fast as a way to purify yourself spiritually and focus on God. This practice helps unlock deeper levels of revelation and strengthens faith

e)       Daily spiritual Armour

-          Dress in spiritual armor daily (Ephesians 6:10-18). This includes truth, righteousness, faith, salvation, and the Word of God to protect against spiritual attacks

f)       Guard your spiritual gates

-          Protect your "gates"—eyes, ears, and mouth—from negative influences. These are entry points through which the enemy can infiltrate your life. Avoid harmful content, conversations, and environments that hinder spiritual growth.

-          Avoid sin. The flesh and spirit are in conflict.

g)      Endurance through trials

-          Embrace challenges as opportunities for spiritual growth. Trust God during difficult seasons to refine your character and deepen your reliance on Him

6.       Life is spiritual and for every correct physical gate to open. The correct spiritual gate MUST be opened or permission granted by God. Have you opened that spiritual gate for the new dimension you are stepping into? This only comes through intimacy with God in all his dimensions.

Example: The Gates of Joshua

a)      Joshua stayed in the Lord before his anointing and his gate of Leadership was opened at the right time.  Why??? To hear from the Lord just like Moses. Are we hearing from the Lord? Are we staying in the Lord?

Exodus 33:7 – 11 (The Tent of Meeting)

-          7 Now Moses used to take a tent and pitch it outside the camp some distance away, calling it the “tent of meeting.” Anyone inquiring of the Lord would go to the tent of meeting outside the camp. 8 And whenever Moses went out to the tent, all the people rose and stood at the entrances to their tents, watching Moses until he entered the tent. 9 As Moses went into the tent, the pillar of cloud would come down and stay at the entrance, while the Lord spoke with Moses. 10 Whenever the people saw the pillar of cloud standing at the entrance to the tent, they all stood and worshiped, each at the entrance to their tent. 11 The Lord would speak to Moses face to face, as one speaks to a friend. Then Moses would return to the camp, but his young aide Joshua son of Nun did not leave the tent.

b)      The Gates of Joshua opened by God

Joshua 1: 1- 9 (Joshua installed as Leader)

After the death of Moses the servant of the Lord, the Lord said to Joshua son of Nun, Moses’ aide: “Moses my servant is dead. Now then, you and all these people, get ready to cross the Jordan River into the land I am about to give to them—to the Israelites. I will give you every place where you set your foot, as I promised Moses. Your territory will extend from the desert to Lebanon, and from the great river, the Euphrates—all the Hittite country—to the Mediterranean Sea in the west. No one will be able to stand against you all the days of your life. As I was with Moses, so I will be with you; I will never leave you nor forsake you. Be strong and courageous, because you will lead these people to inherit the land I swore to their ancestors to give them.

c)       The word, obedience and staying in the Lord was a prerequisite

“Be strong and very courageous. Be careful to obey all the law my servant Moses gave you; do not turn from it to the right or to the left, that you may be successful wherever you go. Keep this Book of the Law always on your lips; meditate on it day and night, so that you may be careful to do everything written in it. Then you will be prosperous and successfulHave I not commanded you? Be strong and courageous. Do not be afraid; do not be discouraged, for the Lord your God will be with you wherever you go.”

d). Disobedience can lock a gate that was already open.

Joshua 7

Achan’s Sin

But the Israelites were unfaithful in regard to the devoted things[a]; Achan son of Karmi, the son of Zimri,[b] the son of Zerah, of the tribe of Judah, took some of them. So the Lord’s anger burned against Israel.

Now Joshua sent men from Jericho to Ai, which is near Beth Aven to the east of Bethel, and told them, “Go up and spy out the region.” So the men went up and spied out Ai.

When they returned to Joshua, they said, “Not all the army will have to go up against Ai. Send two or three thousand men to take it and do not weary the whole army, for only a few people live there.” So about three thousand went up; but they were routed by the men of Ai, who killed about thirty-six of them. They chased the Israelites from the city gate as far as the stone quarries and struck them down on the slopes. At this the hearts of the people melted in fear and became like water.

Then Joshua tore his clothes and fell facedown to the ground before the ark of the Lord, remaining there till evening. The elders of Israel did the same, and sprinkled dust on their heads. And Joshua said, “Alas, Sovereign Lord, why did you ever bring this people across the Jordan to deliver us into the hands of the Amorites to destroy us? If only we had been content to stay on the other side of the Jordan! Pardon your servant, Lord. What can I say, now that Israel has been routed by its enemies? The Canaanites and the other people of the country will hear about this and they will surround us and wipe out our name from the earth. What then will you do for your own great name?”

10 The Lord said to Joshua, “Stand up! What are you doing down on your face? 11 Israel has sinned; they have violated my covenant, which I commanded them to keep. They have taken some of the devoted things; they have stolen, they have lied, they have put them with their own possessions. 12 That is why the Israelites cannot stand against their enemies; they turn their backs and run because they have been made liable to destruction. I will not be with you anymore unless you destroy whatever among you is devoted to destruction.

13 “Go, consecrate the people. Tell them, ‘Consecrate yourselves in preparation for tomorrow; for this is what the Lord, the God of Israel, says: There are devoted things among you, Israel. You cannot stand against your enemies until you remove them.

14 “‘In the morning, present yourselves tribe by tribe. The tribe the Lord chooses shall come forward clan by clan; the clan the Lord chooses shall come forward family by family; and the family the Lord chooses shall come forward man by man. 15 Whoever is caught with the devoted things shall be destroyed by fire, along with all that belongs to him. He has violated the covenant of the Lord and has done an outrageous thing in Israel!’”

16 Early the next morning Joshua had Israel come forward by tribes, and Judah was chosen. 17 The clans of Judah came forward, and the Zerahites were chosen. He had the clan of the Zerahites come forward by families, and Zimri was chosen. 18 Joshua had his family come forward man by man, and Achan son of Karmi, the son of Zimri, the son of Zerah, of the tribe of Judah, was chosen.

19 Then Joshua said to Achan, “My son, give glory to the Lord, the God of Israel, and honor him. Tell me what you have done; do not hide it from me.”

20 Achan replied, “It is true! I have sinned against the Lord, the God of Israel. This is what I have done: 21 When I saw in the plunder a beautiful robe from Babylonia,[c] two hundred shekels[d] of silver and a bar of gold weighing fifty shekels,[e] I coveted them and took them. They are hidden in the ground inside my tent, with the silver underneath.”

22 So Joshua sent messengers, and they ran to the tent, and there it was, hidden in his tent, with the silver underneath. 23 They took the things from the tent, brought them to Joshua and all the Israelites and spread them out before the Lord.

24 Then Joshua, together with all Israel, took Achan son of Zerah, the silver, the robe, the gold bar, his sons and daughters, his cattle, donkeys and sheep, his tent and all that he had, to the Valley of Achor. 25 Joshua said, “Why have you brought this trouble on us? The Lord will bring trouble on you today.”

Then all Israel stoned him, and after they had stoned the rest, they burned them. 26 Over Achan they heaped up a large pile of rocks, which remains to this day. Then the Lord turned from his fierce anger. Therefore that place has been called the Valley of Achor[f] ever since.

7.       Prayer points:

i.            Resurrect every closed gate.

-          Mark 5:35 - 43

35 While Jesus was still speaking, some people came from the house of Jairus, the synagogue leader. “Your daughter is dead,” they said. “Why bother the teacher anymore?”

36 Overhearing[c] what they said, Jesus told him, “Don’t be afraid; just believe.”

37 He did not let anyone follow him except Peter, James and John the brother of James. 38 When they came to the home of the synagogue leader, Jesus saw a commotion, with people crying and wailing loudly. 39 He went in and said to them, “Why all this commotion and wailing? The child is not dead but asleep.” 40 But they laughed at him.

After he put them all out, he took the child’s father and mother and the disciples who were with him, and went in where the child was. 41 He took her by the hand and said to her, “Talitha koum!” (which means “Little girl, I say to you, get up!”). 42 Immediately the girl stood up and began to walk around (she was twelve years old). At this they were completely astonished. 43 He gave strict orders not to let anyone know about this, and told them to give her something to eat.
